I couldn't find any request or questions regarding this before, and I'm not entirely sure how possible this is, so rather than submit a request I thought I would ask here first for general opinions.
Would it be possible (or is there already, and I've missed it) to create a plugin that adds a function like the 'Participated' button, except for PMs? What it would be is essentially a way to pop up a box that will allow you to scroll through your inbox. I don't know how opening PMs would work, ideally they would open in the box but I assume it would take you to your inbox and open the message there.
I saw something interesting in the monetary plugin that shows you the donations you've received, and these work as 'messages', I was wondering if this was something that could be done for your regular inbox.
Let me know if I'm unclear or rambling or crazy.

part of the function behind the participated box, is that it lists threads that you have posted in the recently saw activity. all of your inbox messages already assume you are part of the conversation, and any that are new will show up as notifications under the "messages" menu.
but a bigger problem on this, is that it would require an AJAX call to request the server send your inbox to a new box. which is prohibited by developer guidelines and qould require special permission by staff to even do. but it makes all that work seem rather silly when you can just click the "messages" link in the menu and get all the same data.

yeah, that makes sense, I thought it would involve something like that. It's something that a couple members have asked about so I thought I'd bring it up. Thank you very much for the response :3
