Increase in Signature Character Limit

It would be very helpful to my site if there was a way to increase the character count in signatures. My images aren't big, but there would be a lot of them (like ten) this size



I know it's hard-coded into the site, but it would be really helpful! Especially if it could be 2,000 characters. (maybe even 5000! haha jk but would be cool xD) Even if buying another key for space was required, it would still be really nice.

You could replace the signature with a custom profile field with a 1k+ character limit instead. It'd act the same way just be bigger space

The server will only allow 500 characters, but there are a couple of ways to increase it.

One would be to use 'codes', so, for example, you could use ^I instead of [img src=", but that could get very complicated.

The other way would be to do what ₪» ⅀ ƪ Ƒ «₪ suggested, but using a key to store the signature.. That way you'd have a limit of 4,000 characters.

Is there anyway I can make it showup where the signature is? Or would it be on the side in post?

Could anyone give a little more information on how to do it this way? There has to be more to it than just making a new field. How do I get it to show up in just the bottom of a post instead of in the profile or the mini profile?

This way sounded promising, too, I just don't know enough about it to know exactly what you're talking about right off the bat. Care to elaborate a little?

You could use a Super User Key to store the signature, that will allow up to 4000 characters instead of the current 500.

There are a couple of drawbacks.. It would require the use of a Super Key, it wouldn't work on the mobile app, at least not until V6 is here, and you'd not be able to use UBBC coding, but you CAN use HTML coding instead, so in some ways that could be simpler.

I do agree, however, the use of html would be more simplistic than UBBC Coding (which I find to be a P.I.T.A.)

Everyone would get a 4000 character limit for their own signatures.

No one still answered so I ask again. Can you make this custom profile field appear in the signature's place in some way? To my knowledge you can only make custom profile fields appear in user profiles and mini profiles. Can you get the custom profile field to show up in the end of the post, like the signature?

That question was implicitly answered with the offering of an alternative solution that would work. Profile fields are only scoped to profiles and/or mini-profiles
