Directing a plugin to a location?

I was wondering how I could direct a plugin to a specific area.Like say the banner without using a place holder.
Can anybody help?

Using Jquery, you can 'append' or 'prepend' to an element, or, you can add your content before or after an element using 'insertBefore' or 'insertAfter'
Is this what you mean by direct?
