Download alpha v. 0.1.2
Hi guys, I just finished the alpha version of this plugin that lets you quickly quote specific text from people's posts without having to quote the whole thing and then pick it apart in the reply box! I rarely want to quote someone's entire message and most often just want to acknowledge one part of what they said, so this helps me to do that.
All you have to do is click and drag to highlight the text in the post that you want to quote, then a little "Quick Quote" button will appear at your mouse's position. Click this, and the text you have highlighted will jump to the quick reply area and badda bing you're ready to go! I made some GIFs to show how it works:
A little disclaimer though, this plugin is in its earliest stages and I'm certain there are a few bugs to be found. Anyone who would like to help me bug test it is welcome to give it a go, but hopefully it does the trick for you out-of-the-box for the most part.

A little disclaimer though, this plugin is in its earliest stages and I'm certain there are a few bugs to be found. Anyone who would like to help me bug test it is welcome to give it a go, but hopefully it does the trick for you out-of-the-box for the most part.
KNOWN ISSUES:
- Always quote an original post, don't try to highlight and quick-quote a quote. Q: Why? A: It JUST DOESN'T WORK RIGHT NOW.
- There was at least one instance where unfortunate mouse placement caused me to quote the entire HTML of the post I was trying to quote, including things like the button/dropdown elements that you would use to delete your post. If it seems like a TON of extra BBCode was inserted into the Quick Reply area (like, 2x - 3x more than what you see in GIF #1 above) then just clear it out and try again. Be sure to carefully click and drag only the text you want, ensuring your mouse cursor lands within the message area when you release the click.
- If you use default BBCode to style your posts a certain way and attempt to use the quick quote to quote a portion of the post, the text will not have the styling applied. If the styling begins somewhere within the post like this, though, it'll quote with the style intact.
- In some cases, mis-highlighting and then trying it again will produce multiple instances of a quote.
SOLVED ISSUES:
- v0.1.2
- Now works in Firefox! So I got that goin for me.
