Hey guys, is there a plugin that bypasses the 'create new' or 'merge into' when moving a post that was posted in the wrong thread? like for example, of I make a wrong post in Proboards, they will move it and leave behind an empty post with the title 'moved' and my post would be redirected to the right spot and it would still show that I made it. all I can do, when I move a post, is either create a new subject message (which would automatically means that I 'supposedly' created that post, or merge it into another post. or am I missing something? if I'm not missing something and there isn't a plugin for this, I would like to request it thanks again for any reply. kind regards, Giaco.

A plugin wouldnt be able to actually change what is stored in the database as the thread creator. regardless of who wrote the first post, if you created the thread in order to move the post, then YOU created the thread. the best you could get is just soemthing that allows you to mask what name is used as the thread creator (like Alter or NPC Alias). but if you use someone's actual name, it would only be accurate if they never changed their display name because plugins cannot fetch current display names from the server. the data object stored for the thread will get you an id for the first post, and the first post data object will get you an author id.. but that is as far as you get is an id. I sent in a feature request a while back to allow some sort of AJAX call where you can send in a list of id numbers and get back a limited amount of data (like usernames, displaynames, etc...) but it hasnt been filled yet.

Hey Wormopolis, Thank you for your reply, tho I think I wasn't clear enough by what I meant I meant the following (right above the mouse cursor) and that when you hover over the text you'd see who moved it: Hope this clears it up

Are you not wanting a post left behind when the thread was moved or are you looking to just remove the text that happens on the hover?

Actually, I want the same thing as in that picture, only I don't get that 'moved' option. I can only merge a misplaced post or move it to the right place by creating a new post. For example: But it no matter which option I choose, it won't leave behind a 'moved' post like in the first picture. And when I 'create a new thread' the original posters name will change I to mine and when I select 'merge into existing thread' I can only move and merge it with a thread and post that already exists. It won't just give me the option to just 'move' the post to the right section without 'creating a new thread' and it won't leave behind a 'moved' post so everyone can see that that post has been moved. ((hope I explained it a bit better now))

Ah ok I get it now. when you move an entire thread, you get the option of leaving behind a "thread moved" posting. when you move a single post, you do not. however, the issue arises from the fact that when you choose to do a move post, you are taken to the admin panel, and no plugins can run in the admin panel. there just isnt a way to make that happen.
likely because when you move a post its from in the middle of an existing thread, and putting a replacement post where it was would be just as distracting as leaving the post in the first place.
if you are moving a post that is the only post in the thread, you should be just moving the thread instead. and you will get the option.
a plugin isnt going to be able to insert a replacement post in the middle of a thread because it would involve modifying the database which it isnt allowed to do.
