Modifying the Time Stamp [Answered]

As the title describes, I was wondering if it was possible for someone to provide a code that would modify the time stamp. I really only care about its appearance on the forum home, but if its easier to do it globally I wouldn't argue; simple(r) is good. What I'd like to have is it only display the Month, Day, Year and not the time of day... except for the '5 hours ago' messages when its been within 24 hours of course; those I would like to show.

I had this accomplished in v4 for an older site but not sure how to go about it with the smancy new stuff goin' on with the time stamp variable. Any help on this would be much appreciated.

I believe the updated code in this thread should be able to do what you desire. To prevent the "5 hours ago" type of date from being converted you could place a one-line code of <script>$('.recent_time').removeClass('time');</script> above the code in that thread.

With the code running, you will have the various components of the dates addressable through CSS (as described in that thread) so it would then be possible to use the .at and .at-time classes to hide the time with display:none
