Good afternoon ~
I have a DD in Wilmington, NC, Skidjit . Matthew appears to be sparing us here in Jersey, but it will strike in Wilmington tomorrow morning. So I'm anxious as you can imagine. The schools there were closed for the day. Where along the northeast coast do your relatives live? I'm a hop, skip, jump and a bridge from Philadelphia (about 30 minutes away) with NY being about 2 1/2 hours depending on traffic. And I live along the dividing line between New Jersey and Pennsylvania ~ with that dividing line being the Delaware River.
I'm a walker, too, with my camera as my companion. I live along a river and a lake (yes, talk about flooding potential) and that's beautiful landscape to capture. The river has a marina and the sunrises/sunsets are simply glorious there. This was taken at night's gloaming. Eek. Not sure what DD is. Daughter? I do hope your loved one is alright. I did see where you mentioned no power and flooding. That would scare me to death if that were my little one out there too. I'm sending prayers. I hope the power is back on soon and that all is not as bad as what they say. Have you heard from DD?
It's my good friends at my site. Connecticut, New York, Maine and I think one of my two Canadian's is on this coast. They all seem to get the same storms when they hit. I had a sister-in-law who lived in Maryland. I hope the storm didn't get you as much as was expected. I know it was heading first much further down the coast.
We live far away from any coastline. Near the center of Arkansas which is near the center of the country round about. So, unless a huge hurricane comes up via the gulf coast, sending tons of rain far inland, we only get tornadoes here.
I think I take more pictures of my goofy cats than anything else. Some of the trees here are beginning to turn color, but most are still green. I'll bet those sunrises/sunsets are spectacular sight. I see the ducks in your picture. So pretty. I love water. It's so calming. We do have a community pond a few streets away from us. Wild geese fly low this time of year, ducks too.
Beautiful weather right now. Blue skies and sunny. Nice and cool this morning. Nice last night too.
Yeah. We are enjoying decorating for Halloween. We will put up a bit more every couple of days. For many years, in our state, we had no spring or autumn weather. Within a couple of days, it'd go from burning up straight to cold weather then back again. I'm enjoying this while it lasts. Love the leaves.

Caajscot (John)
I used to be just the opposite. For many years, once the sun came up I felt blinded, more stressed that the day has begun. I'd begin yawning immediately. However, when the skies darkened, life seemed more quiet, calm. I'd wake right up. I found working the overnight shift at the job I had back then was a better fit for me. I'm not really like that anymore. I'm up by 6am every day no matter if I clock in for work or not.
OH! My daughter was born what that talent.... photography. A natural. Back when you only had a limited number of pictures you could take with a cell phone, she was about 4 when she learned how to work mine. Then whenever I went to use it she had taken up every one. I could not get mad. She made the mundane things in the house look beautiful in the way she took the pictures. A candy dish full of skittles that looked like it should have been a picture from a magazine. Even the pictures of our animals outside. It makes me sad she doesn't have interest in pursuing a career in this field. I like seeing the pictures you have posted here... so full of fun and laughter... well the one's I've seen so far.
I've noticed the "I spy" thread you all have here. I need to go take a better look at it soon.
California here has all of the fires. Way out west. Back when we were younger, hubby discovered a path in life. He chased a firetruck down the road. Several hours later he came back and smelled of smoke. Turned out he helped them put out a grass fire in our area then joined the volunteer firefighters. They put him through EMT school where he was able to get a job (spent nearly 20 years) as an EMT driving an ambulance for different ambulance companies around our state. All that because of a fire. It does not take much for a brush fire to get out of control. Australia had to be much worse than anything I've seen here. Like the others said, I'm also glad your family's been ok so far.

Skidjit, yes, DD, dear daughter.
Physically she's fine. But the house lost its shingles, the hood of her neighbor's car is in her yard and there's water all around and her road is flooded. She's trapped and has no idea when she'll get power on (neither does the power company) ~ and the waterways haven't crested yet. Not good. Probably won't be able to get here next week for scheduled vacation. Now, we wait for high tide. The roads are impassable now, so it will be worse at high tide. And they can't work on power lines until the roads open. And the winds are still high.
We're only getting remnants here. Nothing serious.
Nice about your DD and her natural gift of photography!

Wow. ♥ ℒʊ√ ♥I hope things get better soon. I know what it's like to not have power, but never been so flooded that I had to wait for the tide to come and go. Keep us updated. HUGS.

Skidjit , thank you.
We're well accustomed to long periods of power outages. I live in a flood zone. We've had blizzards. The longest she and I were out of power here was for a blizzard and that lasted seven days. And here in NJ, I suffered from Hurricane Sandy, sustaining damage and was without power for 4 1/2 days. So that we can both deal with. We've done it all of our lives.
It's the flooding and the roof damage now that's her main concern. She's resigned herself to the fact that her refrigerated food items will spoil. But in the scheme of things, that's minor.

I am glad she is ok ♥ ℒʊ√ ♥, that's the important thing and as long as she knows she has her family and friends love and knowing that they are thinking of her that's the main thing. Mother nature can be a wicked thing sometimes but as long as she knows that you are around that will make her happy, all our prayers are with her. It's a cold frosty morning here and I have just been for an early morning walk down the grandson's 'Secret Garden' and it's still dark and a black cat shot straight pass me and scared the living daylights out of me lol. But it was a local cat and once I called her she stopped, looked, then trotted up to me and I gave her a tickle around the ears and she purred away and rolled on the pavement so I could tickle her tummy.

Thank you for your good thoughts, Caajscot (John) and Teddybear8 . DD wasn't able to get to work today, of course, but her power is back on. YaY! It's much sooner than the power company estimated.
What a cute kittie, Caajscot (John) . Glad you two met up and you showed her some kindness and attention. Your "Secret Garden" sounds intriguing.
Teddybear8 , hope you got some of the unexpected things taken care of. BTW, we may have our first frost tonight. And I'm not ready!!!! I still have some plants I need to protect. I didn't expect it to happen this soon!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Monday and will have an even better Tuesday.

Caajscot (John) Love that cat's tail. LOL. The other day I noticed a black and white cat on the roof of our neighbor across the road. I'll bet you it got stuck up there because of chasing squirrels. Goofy thing.
The sun is beginning to peek through this morning. Nice and cool here too. Going for a walk right now sounds real good. Hope you enjoyed yours.
Teddybear8 Waves hello. Things got more busy that was unexpected for me too. I'm hoping for clamer week.
♥ ℒʊ√ ♥ So glad to hear your DD's power is back on. Also, a good thing it happened sooner than what they thought. Those are good surprises.
I brought in some hanging plants a couple of weeks ago. Our nights dipped into the lower 60's and they looked a bit peekid. I still need to cover up my rose bushes soon. (Put a cover of dead leaves from the trees to keep their roots warm for the winter.) Then I'll be good to go.

Good afternoon all, it's lovely and cool here at 11c and cloudy, just what I like.
I tell you what, here is me at 67 years old, asthma, sciatica and an irregular heart beat and popping tablets down my throat first thing in the morning and just before I go to bed at night time but seeing this has made me wake up a lot.
I went for my early morning walk this morning and I stopped and had a wee natter with an old lady I see now and then. She is very small and walks slow with a walking still but she always goes out for a walk every morning to the small playground I take we Kaiden every now and then. She will walk around it then head back to her ground floor flat and it must take her a good half an hour just to walk a few hundred yards.
She is 98 years old, god bless her and this old dear is an inspiration for me and I will look forward to seeing her again, she has put a spring in my steps at 67 years old, have a great day all.

Caajscot (John)Wow. 98 years old and still going. That's what I'd like to be doing when I get that age. When I lived in Germany, it was a common sight to see grandmother's on their bikes (with a wicker basket) going to the market in their communities to buy fresh items for their dinner meals that day. You'll see a loaf of bread sticking out with a sack of whatnots in her basket. I asked my hubby if he could imagine seeing that sight in the US? Or if he could imagine his mother like this. Nope to both questions. We had a very stormy night complete with thunder and lightning. Just how I like it. I'm hoping for a calm quiet day. I hope that everyone who reads this will have a wonderful day.

Afternoon all, lovely cloudy and a bit of sun now and then with showers but 10c, just chilling out on Liz's laptop in the back room while she watches some of her shows on tv. I take it you mean horse riding Søren?, man, the last time I rode a horse was in Australia many moons ago when I was a young lad and that was in the Australian countryside, I loved it.
