Hey folks,
I hunted around for this type of plugin, but I haven't seen anything like it thus far.
I'm interesting in a quote plugin where you click on the name within the quote box and it jumps to said post. There is already a feature for this in pro boards. However, clicking it implies refreshing the page.
What I want is this: When you click on someone's quote box, it jumps to their post without refreshing the page. I know some other forums have this feature, and it'd be awesome to see on Proboards. Could anything like this be done?

what if their quote comes from a different page in the thread, or from a different thread completely?

It would just load said page/thread normally. The plugin I'd like only operates on a same page basis.

Try dropping this code in your forum's global header
<script type="text/javascript"> /* switch same-page quotes to scroll when clicked */ ;(function(){ if( proboards.listManagers && proboards.listManagers[proboards.data('lm_id')] && proboards.listManagers[proboards.data('lm_id')].item_type == "post" ){ function quoteMe(){ $('.quote_header > a[href^="/post/"]') .each(function(){ var post = $(this).attr('href').split("/"); if($('#post-'+post[2]).length){ $(this).attr('href',location.href.split("#")[0]+'#post-'+post[2]); } }) } $(quoteMe); pb.events.on('afterSearch',quoteMe); } })() </script>

Clicking on the person's name in a quote SHOULD take you to their profile jrryan and that has nothing to do with this code. Clicking on the DATE however should take you to the post where that quote was taken and this is the action the OP was asking about. If the post from where that quote was taken is somewhere on the page then scroll to it instead of reloading the page to get to it. Does that make it clearer for you?

Ahhh, I see where the confusion comes from now jrryan, it was obvious to me the first time I saw it that the OP misspoke mainly because I already knew how the quoting system operated and also because they went on to say . I subconsciously auto-corrected it and it never registered that there was even a misleading error in the wording, thanks for clearing that up! Requests are best put the the entire community so all available resources can be brought to bear but if you feel the need for privacy then sure go ahead and send a PM.
