Search features only exist on certain pages. Do you want it to execute a search the same way as the Search button in your forum's main menu or are you trying to duplicate the live search within a thread?

I believe it should be possible to execute a full forum search from anywhere by simply plugging your search terms into a certain URL using Javascript.
