Hello Chris , I installed this plug-in on my forum, but it shows on boards that aren't selected in the settings. The description reads that it will only work on selected boards, but I've seen it on boards that aren't selected. How can that be fixed? Thank you. The plugin works in that respect when I installed it on a test forum so if you are having issues with it showing on boards that have not been selected then you will need to provide example URLs so other installed codes that might be influencing this behavior can be investigated.

Chris, I noticed it on the Pets & Animals board. I increased the height so that an entire video would show without the fading. That board isn't on the list of selected boards. I haven't checked any of the other boards not on the list yet. Here's a link to that board, but since I increased the height, you won't see any fading quotes now. link

You will of course need to enable the plugin if you have disabled it or have set its permissions to a level not viewable by guests since I don't currently see it in the coding of the source given by that link and could locate no quotes affected by the plugin in order to investigate.

Chris, I adjusted the height so that one video or a few paragraphs will show in its entirety when quoted, but I will post a screen capture if I come across one on a non-selected board. Thank you.

Quick question on the Fading Quotes, I've installed the plugin and got it to work with a forum I'm working on, but the plugin isn't functioning as intended inside of a custom page I built. I ensured that the quotes are enabled in the appropriate themes, and my user has permission to view them... but they fail to function. Any ideas where I may be going wrong?

Chris Any ideas what might be going wrong with the Fading Quotes in a custom page? You would need to provide a link to the problem (example of plugin installed but not working), I am not the author of the plugin but can probably assist you when given enough clues to investigate. My guess is the plugin was not written to affect custom pages that have different routes and widget classes...

My guess is the plugin was not written to affect custom pages that have different routes and widget classes... I'm actually from the same forum. It appears that we're not able to do what we want to do with a custom page, so we're onto Plan B. Long story short: We're a sports forum that has recently wanted to share some of our original content (more like a blog). Part of that is wanting to make more of an "Articles Page". This is what we have so far: Much like the "Fading Quotes" works, is there any way to make these previews bigger for the threads rather than "quotes"? Ideally, we'd be able to preview each article with like the first paragraph or so. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've been asked over and over to just take our community and content elsewhere, but I LOVE Proboards, so, I'm hoping for good news... Thanks in advance!

I, unfortunately, still don't know what the link would be to take me to Funkytown Do you have a link to the forum? My guess would be whatever modification you have there giving you a preview in that image would be from the same source that shows a preview when you hover over a thread, and that is not extendable you get what you get. If by bigger you mean font size then that is doable but I would still need to see the page to investigate all the competing CSS rules to offer something that would work.

Our forum is: purplepainforums.com/I don't know much about this stuff, but from what I've gathered, the way it was relayed to me is that we can't do what we want using a custom page, and we don't have access to the variables within the layout templates to display things as we wish. By "bigger" I don't mean font size. I mean rather than previewing a sentence, as shown in the image, it would display at least the first intro paragraph. Then someone could click to read the full article. Something simple and clean like this: www.canesinsight.com/

The variable that gives you a preview into the thread is $[thread.short_content] and it is the same variable that gives you the preview when you hover over the thread: There is no $[thread.long_content] but there are more extended previews available for the first post in the thread and also the last post in the thread by using the variables $[thread.first_post.message] and $[thread.last_post.message] respectively. The image in your post is of a theme not available while viewing the forum as a guest so I can still only guess but if it is as I suspected earlier it will using the short_content variable so go ahead and switch it out for the first_post.message variable to get a bigger bite. You would of course need to fade and cut it short like it currently is now in your image.
