If I may add @burkeknight
To hide the shoutbox from guests, just add this:

Nice tip, aRMY83! However, when I made this, I did not even think about if wanted to hide from guests, I was so use to seeing shoutboxes seen, but not usable by guests. Great catch. : Added to first post.

Something else you may want to check in to and that is, for those that opt to have the shoutbox appear only on the main page as I do (top of page), it now appears on every page when clicking on Shoutbox and there it shows a blank area where the shoutbox would normally be.

I'm sure someone could figure a way for the button to only show on the main page, which would solve this for those that do that.

Sorry for the lateness but had to get something to eat.
I'll see if I can come up with a solution and if so, I'll post it within this thread.

Finally, got it working on the Dr Who theme. Great learning curve for us newbs ;-)
One question how easy would it be to include a 'close' button next to the 'send' button?, as the only way you can close it, at present, is to navigate away.
The collapsible shoutbox plugin is great but can it be incorporated into your plugin?
I did try to install it but it just creates a second shoutbox bar under the original
Thanks in anticipation.

dogsbowlucks, just click the shoutbox menu button to close. It's a toggle.

Hi Mate, To me it works great but some lazy b'tard said a close button would be simpler. I am not sure they realise how much work is involved, for you coders, to implement this. I did download the shoutbox plugin, with the eye, but all that done was create another bar under your one. It worked fine but i want to keep it all crisp and tidy. Thank anyway and i will leave it as yours is working fine and great when viewing on a pad or similar.

Also, if have fixed menu at top of screen, when click, it should take you directly up to the shoutbox.
I do not plan on adding to this, as the only thing I could do, is add another button, which would be rather redundant.
I have no desire to have this little trick have way more edits than are needed, nor edits to the shoutbox template.

Hey at @burkeknight I like what this does.. But as a non coder can you answer me a Q? I want to do this to certain themes on my board , but not all of them.. The thing that scares me is the first 2 codes go into the Global Header and Footer.Where they might affect all of my Themes?.... Can these codes be put into the Forum wrapper as per Theme? If so..Can I input them as said? Or would I have to change them slightly? I really want to check this out.. It looks like great work..

blueshead, I've never tested it that way, but I do not see why not. Let me know what happens when you try.

Unless mistaken, the move shoutbox code needs to be in headers/footers. However, they should only take effect, if the other code telling where to put it are there.
Have you tried as is, and seen if the themes not want affected are like they should be?

Have you tried as is, and seen if the themes not want affected are like they should be? Ahhh you know what.. I thought about that after I set it up like You posted and It worked.. But I did not check other themes.. guess in theory it should work for only one theme.. And you would have to do the other codes theme by theme.. Ok.. I'll go back an give it a go... Well done deal.. and it works theme by theme...Ahhhh sweet... Ty @burkeknight..
