New/Old posts, not working & 2 other issues. PLEASE HELP.

I am hoping someone can help me here.  The new posts/old posts icon isn't behaving properly on the thread pages.  It behaves perfectly on the homepage.  You can see a grayed out crown to represent that there are no new posts and that changes to a gold crown when there is a new post.

However, when you go into the thread page (click on Roundtable Discussion) you will see all the threads within that board.  The problem I'm having is that on this page (and all other threads within all boards) the grayed out crown icon doesn't appear at all; however, a gold crown will show up when a new post is made.  For the life of me I can't figure out how to make the grayed out crown stay there all the time and change to a gold crown when a new post is made.

The 2nd issue I am having has to do with the text color within the boards.  Again, on the homepage everything looks great.  But click on the Roundtable Discussion board and you'll see that the blue color of the links, bleed into the "created by" and "replies" column, although the "views" column text is gray.  I'd like the text to behave just like it does on the homepage where the only blue color text is the name of thread and the person who make the last post.  All other text, should be gray. 

The 3rd issue I'm having is removing the thread icon.  You'll see it if you click on Roundtable Discussions again.  There is a folder for every thread.  I know those are threads.  I don't need an icon for that, but I can't figure out how to remove it. 

So can someone PLEASE help me.  I'm an idiot with CSS.  I had someone else build my site for me, so I'll need pretty straightforward directions as I'm a CSS novice.

Hi, defiantvitreous.

The thread list doesn't use the same icons as the board icons. Each has its own icon found in the Images section of your theme's settings page. The gold crown is replacing the default "new" icon that normally shows on the default theme. When there are no new posts in a thread the "new" icon doesn't show, so it's not possible to simply replace it.

You can add this to the bottom of Themes > Advanced Styles & CSS > Style Sheet to make the text color of the links in the Created By and Replies columns the same.

.threads .item:hover .replies a { color: @lists_hover_text_color; }

You don't seem to have any thread icons as of this post.

Thanks for the help Brian.

1) When I add that code you gave me to the bottom of the sytle sheet, I get this error that pops up in red and prevents me from saving the change:

variable @lists_hover_text_color is undefined on line 1576

Thoughts?

2) I found a code that hides that column with the folders, so that is why it isn't there anymore.

3) No worries with the new/old posts. I figured as much.

4) Can you also help with 1 additional thing? Since I am hiding that column where the thread folders are, I was just going to use an announcement to make a sticky thread, instead of actually sticking a thread. The announcement threads get bumped to the top and a black border separates the announcement thread(s) from the rest, which is awesome. My question is, is there a code that would be able to make the background of announcement threads the same color as my hover highlight color? And then when I remove the announcement, the background color reverts back to the regular background color. Does that make sense?

I accidentally capitalized the last S in "lists". I edited the code in my post to correct that.

You can change the background of announcement threads by placing this at the bottom of your style sheet.

.threads .item.announcement { background-color: @container_highlight_color; }

Brian, can I ask 1 more favor? In follow up to this code:

.threads .item.announcement { background-color: @container_highlight_color; }

I currently have it set that the color of the thread titles, change when I hover over them. I would like to make the color of the text of the announcement threads the same as the hover text color of the titles. I would assume I can just add a line underneath of the above code to achieve that? Will you supply one for me? Thank you!

You'd have to duplicate the hover part of the earlier code and add .announcement to it instead of :hover.

Clearly I did it wrong, but I tried doing what you said and added this to the bottom of the style sheet but it didn't work:

.threads .created-by a,

.threads .item.announcement .created-by a,
.threads .item.announcement .replies a { color: @lists_hover_text_color; }

Maybe some confusion on my explanation.  I want the announcement titles text color to actually be the hover text color all the time.  Not just when hovering.

That's what the code did, but I neglected to color the regular columns along with the columns that contained links.

Replacing the entire announcement code with this should work.
