Navigation Tree Abbreviations

Is it possible to force the navigation tree to not abbreviate or hide parts of the path by adding a code to the header?

When viewing threads, the category disappears from the nav tree. Is there a way to make the category show in the nav tree when viewing threads?

The forum doesn't show the category or even a placeholder there by default, so I didn't initially include it.

I updated the code again to include it.
