Dropdown list of notifications (visible on all pages)

So, about a week ago I started development on a little project which shows the current user's notifications in a sort of Facebook-like notification box. I managed to get the notifications in a dropdown box, however the notifications only showed up when you were on the notifications page of the current user. I'm guessing this is because the function is only accessible or usable on the notifications page, but I wonder if it would be possible to get the notifications to show up on ALL the pages and then also have a sort of button to mark the notifications as "Read".

Is this possible? Does a plug-in have more "access" or something? Any help would be appreciated!

In theory it could be done using a key, but it would be a very time consuming and somewhat frustrating plugin to make.

Other than that, I'm afraid not. Information can only be gathered from the currently viewed page, which is why your notifications are only showing up on the relevant page.

Have you checked out the facebook theme by Trinity Blair?  She has a notifications set up like that.  Maybe you can contact her and she might be able to help you with the code?

Todge Glad to know that it's possible! I just needed confirmation so that I don't continue on something which isn't possible, I don't mind if it's a lot of work I've already completed most of it, I'll just transfer it to a plug-in and I should be able to figure it out. I'll ask any questions when stuck and post updates here

Hmm...I might just wait and see until the feature is added, this is quite hard to convert to a plug-in :/
