Before I get to the question I came here to ask, I'd like to know if there's a thread here in the "theme" section that has a list of commonly asked theme questions? That might be helpful to a lot of us who might end up asking the same questions that have been answered repeatedly.

(But on the other hand, when I have free time, I do like to stroll through and learn new answers to questions I've never thought of before. So please don't think my question is a complaint. I just didn't know if there is one and I just can't find it.) I know this would be hard work to create a thread like this, but it's come in handy on other parts of proboards.

OK. My question:

If I download a premade theme from the theme library that might have a different layout, would that over ride (or affect) the rest of the themes I already have up on my sites? I'm worried if I go all out because I want to see something new, I don't want to change what the rest of my members are already happy with using.

PS- Is it unwise to have a few downloaded themes from the theme library?

Skidjit,

Importing a new theme which may include a new layout will only affect that one theme you download. You can have totally different layouts for each theme. Example, here on a test site I created a totally different look for my boards (top picture) but I also have a theme downloaded called moon (bottom picture) plus another theme with side tables.

OH thank you so much Tumbleweed. You really opened up the world for me while I tinker around seeing what I can offer my site members. This is going to be fun.

(I lost the link to the test site I was working on a few weeks ago when, for the first time, I tried a different layout. I could not remember, but I thought it changed the default theme I had set. Obviously, I was remembering wrong. Whew. I didn't want to try it out on my usual test site for fear it would change all of the themes I've saved there. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question.)

You're welcome. Look in your email and maybe you can find that lost test site. Or just create a new one if you want to try something but don't want to mess up a work in progress on a test site. Always nice to have at least one test site and even a spare.
