Need help Modifing the Code for "Custom Profile Fields"

Hello,



I think I have been posting in the wrong Board the whole time. As I seem to have made some upset with me by asking about changing or adding Code on my Forum.



I am not here to make people mad or even cause any trouble.



I have Forum on ProBoards and am asking to see if the Code be changed to do what I would need it to do.



First off my Forum is about Poker and the different types of Coaching Poker Players can find. As I have made the Forum and created my Boards,then Sub-Topic Board,then Sub-Board definitions.

What I am trying to do is ask if it is possible in the "Custom Profile Field" in the Admin panel under "Members Section." When entering the Fields I made them the same as the Sub-Board Listing above. So they all match and corrospond to each. Here is a screenshot of the Profile Page under "Settings" in a Member Profile:




This screenshot is of the Profile and the added lisitings I made under the "Custom Profile Fields." It is very long but needed to break down the different types of Coaching they do.



What am I asking?



I am asking if there is anyway at all to be able to add to the for each one of these so the "Input" also goes to the Board and Sub-Board that matches the same check-box?

I am here because I do not know how to write Code, I don't even know how to read Code. The only experience I have when it comes to Code is using Google to someone that posted about what they changed to make something work. And then copying and pasting it into my Google Blogger Blog.



This is a New Ball Game and Ball Park working on script and Code for a Forum. There is a proper way and then there is the wrong way.



WordPress banned me from my cPanel as I would change stuff and they would have to go behind me and fix the problem.



I am assuming Proboards does not want me working on my own Forum as I can really mess things up Fast.



What I really want to do...



I would like to know if in the Code for the "Custom Profile Field" is there someway that if a Owner of a Forum wanted the [input] added to a Particular Board and Sub-Board could it be implemented. I am asking becuase I see that there is a possible way to do this as they did something similar with "Custome Post Templete Settings."



Is it possible to have a Pop-up like the one in this screenshot that would allow a Admin to be able to have it go into a Board or Sub-Board???









I apologize for this Post being so long, but wanted to try and get all possible information to help if anyone wants to.

I was able to use the "Inspect Element" by right clicking on it. And when Inspecting I found this HTML Code.

After putting it into the HTML Inspect mode I copied the HTML and placed it into a HTML Editor. It shows the Box used to enter the information into.

Like I said I am not a Code Programmer. And if I start editing Code to make it work like I want then I will be back asking for even more indept help.

But if no one is Interested in helping me, then I am kool with it. Thanks anyways......

Again Thank you for your analysis of my situation.

As I could not sleep thinking about it all night.

One thing that might be a solution to not having access to ftp files is the Forum itself.



Forum's operate off BBCode.



Take for example I made a Thread-Board and in that Post I used BBCode to make a Response Form.

As I was looking at it this morning and by using a string of BBCode to start out with



[imgage of checkbox, followed by the image link with "Text" defining the name of the Post I want it to go to]



"thread link thread-id board-id" Then I am not sure how to enclose this to make it work.

then I would have to be able to enable the Post by some sort. Maybe: ??

In your opinion would something like this work?



As it is universal on most Forums. All I am trying to do instead of chaging files or CSS Code is use what i have access to.



And that is Forum Thread and Post option using BBCode to make a Response Form that a member can check box's to what they do and then have it go to Thread Board and Post for that kind of person.

- thread-link is actually a class, I believe (.thread-link)

- thread-id and board-id are used as variables and are only available on certain templates ($[thread.id] and $[board.id]) (although they may be usable as thread-id and board-id elsewhere - I'd have to look)

- If you're looking for this to auto-post, that's a no go, as it would violate ProBoards ToS. If you're just looking for it to place text in the Quick Reply (without actually posting as well - requiring the user to click the Post Quick Reply button to actually post it), that should be doable.


Again, I've got a few things on my plate right now, but I will print your posts so I can peruse through them later today to see if this is doable.

I understand and do not wish to go outside of ToS with ProBoards by any means. Like you mentioned if the member would have to click "Quick Reply" and acknowledge that they are Posting will work.


Would it be available for a Guest to Reply?


I will have to change the "Permissions" as I did not want anyone posting to those Threads. As it is more for finding the person easier compared to anyone asking questions in that Section. That is why I locked all of them for viewing only not for Posting.


But may not have any choice.

Guests would only be able to reply if your board's permissions are set to allow guests to post replies - so that would fall under each board's individual settings. If your permissions are set to Members & Staff for a board's Create threads and Reply to threads settings, then guests can't create new threads nor post to existing threads.

I may have solved my own problem. Without causing any confusion or breaking ToS agreement.

If I can solve the problem within normal options I will and then place a Completed on this Thread as soon as if I can make it work.

As I have decided to make a Blog and buy a .com extention to be able to link the Forum to for doing the appropriate actions by ProBoards Terms of Service Agreement.
