I have various staff groups (and other groups) on my forum that I want to have a badge on their profile. I would like the badge(s) to be similar to Tumbleweed's badge here: if that's possible. The graphics I would like: - A diamond with a rainbow gradient as the background (if possible).
- A diamond with a black background with a slight glow on the diamond (if possible).
The diamond is here: The dimensions are 20x20px. Thank you for your help!

Hey, Alan Vende. Just as a heads up: You might want to try tagging Phear - they do some awesome work from what I've seen them do from posts on here, and they might be willing to do this for you (don't know if Gridlines is a he or a she (gender visibility is off), so using a generic term ). Oh yeah, also sent you a quick PM.

Thanks, Lynx! I won't tag them again since you already did, but thank you for the suggestion! I replied to your PM, by the way. Thank you!

Thanks for the tag, Lynx! I went ahead and tried to fulfill your request. The 20x20 dimensions are really limiting with what's possible here, so I did what I could. Let me know if this is what you had in mind!

Let me know if this is what you had in mind! Thanks so much for this, Phear. I asked for 20x20 because anything bigger looked a bit too big for the mini profiles - especially where I wanted them to go in the mini-profiles. On the second one, I meant rainbow like the actual rainbow - red, blue, green and so on. Was that not possible with the dimensions that I had set? (Sorry if that question makes no sense the way I worded it.) Thank you for your help!

I guess asking for a glow and a rainbow on such a small scale isn't doable. I didn't realize how small it was (considering when I do things like this, I zoom in to go pixel by pixel). ( )

( ) Well, the background on the Rainbow one actually is the rainbow, but I darkened it a bit to increase visibility of the diamond, as you couldn't see it at all on the varying colors. It's generally just trying to keep a decent quality on all the parts of the design that's difficult, so working with them as best I could, this is what I came up with.

I was thinking it would be kind of easy (not trying to sound like I'm gloating or anything, but I guess I didn't take into account trying to keep the quality of the image, if that makes sense). Thank you for your help, my friend!

Thank you for your help, my friend! It's not easy, trust me. I tried my hand at this request and trashed them in frustration. When you have so few pixels to start with, many of them are somewhat transparent to keep the round shape, it isn't easy to make a rainbow show up in a space that barely shows in the first place with the diamond covering most of the space anyway. The glow was impossible for me to accomplish and I gave up completely on that. Here, I dug the one out of my trash bin. There is a rainbow affect under that diamond somewhere. lol
I think Gridlines are about as good as you are going to get.

I never had the chance to work on something so small in Photoshop. I've always worked on big things. I never took into account anything of it being smaller and not having many pixels available because of the diamond. What I originally thought when making this thread and asking for that diamond was: 1. You wouid have the background layer. 2. You'd have the gradient, which would be above the background (I always keep the actual, locked, background layer white so I can start over if I need to - I don't know why I do that, though. I guess it's because of my OCD. 3. You'd have the diamond on a separate layer, above the gradient in the Layers panel That's sort of what I was thinking. Does my thought process make sense? Thank you, Phear and Tumbleweed for your help!

Tumbleweed: I think I'm a bit color blind. In a different thread, I think, I asked for other badges like these and you fulfilled the request. Did you make both diamonds with blue backgrounds or did you make a diamond with blue and purple backgrounds? I ask because I was wondering if I could request a diamond on a purple background if you didn't make one already. Sorry if you did - blue/dark blue and purple look the same to me Thank you! I will be back in a few minutes. I will update this post when I get back to explain more.

Thank you, Phear and Tumbleweed for your help! Exactly how I did it and really the only way you can do it, except for the white background because I wanted to keep it transparent and I ended up with about 8 layers. There just aren't many pixels to work with to make a gradient from one color to another and have it really show. Here is a screen cap to show each pixel:
storage.proboards.com/2773176/i/lQ7SyQn69jRyELnrdhOg.png
Only like two pixels to work with inside the black border to the diamond v part, 1 pixel on the sides and every bottom of the "v" and then the top you have max, 4-5 pixels from the diamond to the edge.

I thought it was about the only way you could do it. Now I realize that it's small like that. I'll take that into account with designs. Thank you!

It's odd, though, that when I test out Hex values from W3School's HTML Color Picker, the color seems a lot darker than it does in the Picker. Thank you so much!
