Hi Where do I go to change the text on the 'NEW' button. I was sure that I knew where it was, at one point, but can't seem to find it now.

Come to think of it, I think it would help if I could add some padding around the text inside of the button. Does anyone know how to do this?

/*add padding to new icon*/ .threads .new.item .new-icon{padding:3px; }

Thank you very much, Tumbleweed. That looks so much better. Is it possible to center the text vertically? It appears anchored at the bottom of the button. I finally found where to change the text. It is >admin>settings>forum

It is >admin>settings>forum I typically just go to adding in the style sheet because I never know what all was added to a theme before hand (no link to your site was given) and adding to the bottom of the style sheet over-rides whatever else was added but glad you found where it was in Visual Editor.
So are you good then or do you still have a problem with the vertical centering?

Oh, I didn't mean to confuse. I added what you gave me above to the end of the style sheet as you suggested and that worked great, but yes I still would like to center the text inside the button. The thing I found myself was where to change the wording on the new button in the settings area.

Can you provide a screenshot of what the new button looks like at the moment? I can help with centering the text by adding more padding values. or better yet, a guest-friendly link to a page where the new button is in the legend (wait, can guests SEE legends?)

Hi Azayles, Okay, here is a screenshot. I would just like the text to be a little higher on the button.
The one next to 'Participated' is the worst. The padding I added already didn't seem to affect that one. Here is what it looks like: It doesn't have to be exact. If you can give me an idea how to basically do it, I can probably fine tune it. Thanks.

Ah yep, the one Tumbles gave you will only affect the icon on new posts. To affect the icon globally, change out the code for this:
/*add padding to new icon*/ .new-icon { padding:1px 3px 4px 3px; }
The numbers affect top, right, bottom and left padding, respectively.

Aww I'm really pleased! I took a stab at the padding values based on just eyeballing the screenshot of the button, so very happy it worked that well
