Actually, I'm watching to see how this one works. What does it look like? Is the information for that day to be filled out ONLY by an admin, or could an assigned member be the one to do this? I have a member of my site who started a thread "On this day..." a couple of years ago. But it's just a thread. I'd rather not make her an admin just to work this. But she'd love to be able to have her info prominently displayed, like I imagine this plugin would work.
Even if only an admin fills in the info, I might still do this and (first talking with my friend) then putting the info on display anyway.
Thanks Lynx
============
Edited to say... I just found it on the plugin library and saw the views. Where would it show up on my site? I noticed one person placed it in his sidebar which I think is cool, but would not really be where it would look best on my site. I was not sure where you had it placed.

I think it can be made to sit anywhere, I just wanted it to be in the sidebar.

I'm going to be awkward MSG - is this plugin editable (To stop things altering where I didn't want the title-bar class has been changed to title_bar on Equestriad xD if its editable I can do it myself! - I also need to alter a few other classes for Equestrian Heaven)
Also a suggestion (none urgent) make it obvious which side is day which side is month for how you want the date set up

I think it can be made to sit anywhere, I just wanted it to be in the sidebar. I actually loved where you put it. You have a picture in there and everything. That's cool. I just wondered where she has it placed by default. I might just add it to my test site just to find out where it pops up.

I think I'm missing something. I just put it on two of my sites and it's not showing up on either. I have it set to where it would not be hidden if there are no events for the day. Also, I have something actually put in there for today's date 2/26. I might be doing something wrong. OH and I took the link from the front of this thread. Version 101.pbp should I get the earlier version?
(my main site is in my siggy below.)

Have you put the div in (on the first page of the thread) in the layout templates No. All I did was upload it to my site and go by the instructions I found on the plugin. Is the info on the div found some place on this thread?
Wait. I'll go look.

Thanks Boy_Wonder I put Just where I hoped it would go. I'm still green about sticking things in there, because I'm not as knowledgeable about codes as I would like to be. (I'm getting there though.)
I got to thinking. This notation needs to be added in there on the plugin or those less knowledgeable will not be able to get it to work.
But it's working now. sort of. My dates are not showing, only the info for the day and the "On this Day" in the title bar. I think I need to fully backread this thread for more instructions.

Okay, going to try this again. Nothing like having a reply made, click the post button and getting a 404 error. Boy_Wonder - I don't typically put the editable copy in the library. This is mostly so it can't be tampered with to which may bring people to the support thread saying "I think I did something and now it doesn't work". Not saying you're one of those people (as I know you're working on plugins yourself), but some may and that's just something I don't want to really have to deal with. It's just something I'd rather avoid. Sorry. However, what I will do is add in another tab to where you can set what class(es) you use on your forum that aren't standard. There will be a place for each class I use (except for the .msg-otd class, as that's not a standard class anyways) in the plugin. So, if you use "title_bar" as your class instead of "title-bar", you'll be able to edit what class the plugin looks for. For the date format, I had thought the 6/18 example might be a clue, but I'll add clarification to that. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Skidjit - Just to confirm the answers you were given above: - Only someone who has access to your Plugins > Manage can add / edit / delete events for the plugin. There's no method in there that would allow a user to do this and that would probably also require a super key so everyone had access to see the entry. Maybe as a thought for later on down the road update, but definitely not until after V6 launches. We'll see. Remind me if you'd be interested in user entries after that, and I'll look into it. - The plugin does look for the <div> so it knows where it should appear. I did it this way to allow forum owners the option of where they wanted it placed, rather than me hard-code a location in. I'll add info about the <div> in the About tab though. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. - I took a look on your forum and didn't see where you've got the plugin running, so I'll take a guess at what could be the problem. First, if there are events for the current date (whatever today's actual date is), check to make sure you don't have the Date Placement setting (Settings tab) set to No Date, as this will prevent the date from showing at all. If that's not the case, see if there's an entry that has today's date (for this post, the Date would be 2/26 for an event to show today). If there's no event for today (you're seeing the (There are no Events listed with today's date.) message), then the date doesn't show. I'll add that in to show the date, but only if the Date Placement is set to Title Bar (no need to for Content since there wouldn't really be any content). Third possibility: do you have the Date in MM/DD format? As stated by Boy_Wonder, the format may not be clear - of which will be addressed. Using a date in any other format, such as MM-DD or DD/MM or DD-MM won't work and the plugin won't recognize it. If you set with DD/MM, the plugin will try to interpret that as MM/DD. So, if you have what you want as February 7 entered as 7/2 (DD/MM)- it thinks you mean July 2 (MM/DD).
I'm currently having issues getting into the Build (keep getting the Err Bear), so I can't work on these fixes yet. I'll work on them as soon as the Err Bear decides to go back into hibernation.
