Creating similar plugins

I've been bouncing around this idea, but not sure if it "qualifies" as a "new" plugin - or if it would be something acceptable to the library.

I'm wondering if I can take my On This Date (OTD) plugin, do some mods to it (different Title Bar text and an option for custom text) and maybe a few other minor tweaks, and put it out as a different plugin? I don't really want to take away from what the OTD (by its name) was intended for, so don't really want to add those options into that.

So, should I just mod the OTD plugin with the new options, or make a new one based off of it?

New Title Bar text would have general things like: News; Announcement; Important; Notice - to name some, as well as being able to set your own custom title.

Some plugin creators have submitted multiple editions of essentially the same plugin.  support.proboards.com/thread/541336/date-time-clock-ii
If you read the first page I commented that date and time clock 2 was the same as time clock 1.
But both are in the library.
So go ahead and make a new one. Just give it a different name.
Other examples are accepted post and accepted post guru edition.

I even have casino plugins with key version and without key versions

If anything it will keep you from breaking a working edition
