on my forums, I require admin and staff to post all information regarding banned users. For instance, they have to create a topic detailing the username of the banned person, time the ban was enacted, reasons for the ban, any alternate accounts the user may use, list of IP's and any special notes (like requirements for the user to be unbanned, or if they are not to be unbanned under any circumstances). I'm looking for someone to create a template code for these posts, so all they have to do is fill in the information, and not type each field individually. Just a way to make it easier, and to make the topics uniform with eachother

You can probably use Custom Post Template to accomplish this. You can do it under a dedicated board that isn't visible or visible if you like.

I am not entirely sure this is within the TOS, as far as I remember collecting this information, particularly the IPs, is a violation (I removed something similar from my site as well). Paging Brian for input.

Paging Brian for input. Was this on a particular forum? I know there's a rule about data harvesting but apart from email addresses I'm not fully familiar with what's covered under that section. If you were warned by the abuse department I might be able to obtain information about the specifics of that warning based on that.

If you were warned by the abuse department I might be able to obtain information about the specifics of that warning based on that. We didn't get a TOS notification from it, I just remembered around the time of the v5 conversion there was a thread in support where the topic came up. I had collected the last known information of various problem members in a staff-only board -- last username, last IP, everything staff could see about the account -- so that we could keep an eye on them if they returned. This included email addresses, but I did specifically ask about IPs as well. I'll try and dig up the thread for you though. EDIT Brian - no go on finding it, maybe got purged? My recent posts only go up to page 67.

Well, IP information is available for the admins if they have access. Wouldn't it be fine to keep this information as long as only admins have access to it since the information is on the admin area anyway? I mean, you can ban members based on IP address, so it's the same thing. They're just using it for a way to keep all that information together I'm assuming.

as far as IP addresses, this was just an idea. and email addresses we would mask the email provier/everything after the @ symbol
