last post shoutbox

Is there a way to have the last post made in the shoutbox appear somewhere else?  Do I need a plugin for this with a key?  I just want the last post (none of the rest of the shoutbox) to appear.

do you have your newest shouts at the top or bottom?

Edit 1: also keep in mind that if you use a key to store it, it can only be updated when viewing the home page and only via user interaction, like the user clicking on a link, etc.

Edit 2: try this:

Move Last Shoutbox Post.pbp (836 B)

put this wherever you want the last shoutbox post to display:

<div id="last_shoutbox_post"></div>

this uses local storage to grab the last post, and it will automatically be updated whenever anyone views your forum home page.

I tried Edit 2..which would be my preferred way of doing it, and it isn't appearing for me.  My forum: thecityofsin.freeforums.net/.  I have it set that only members can view my board so if you wouldn't mind making a temporary account on the forum?  My shoutbox is on a custom page located here: thecityofsin.freeforums.net/page/facebookwall
and it has a few mods to it (like avatars).  So, if you are willing, please take a look and give me advice what I need to do to fix it?

where did you put the div? i don't see it in your forum's source

registered under username "soe"

What do you mean view the Shoutbox first? when I try to new versions I try putting a fresh post up and then going back to the homepage to see if it updated.

when you view any page that has the shoutbox on it the last post is saved to localstorage so when you view a page where the shoutbox isn't on the last post will display there (assuming the div is visible globally)

re-download. since you have the shoutbox on a custom page i had to make a small edit.
