Hello Todge,

So on my board, I've noticed that whenever one of my members posts in a creature thread, and then moves to another thread, the creature dies. For instance:

"Current HP: DEAD!



Final blow dealt by nowhere, a large [N] appears!"

This is what it states at the top. Here's the example: LINK

If it matters, per my member, she stated:

I think I might be breaking it by posting across multiple threads because I just messed up the ysali too ._.
I wonder if I have an undefined variable somewhere that's confusing it
But without a health count attached to me, I don't know how that would be relevant anymore

The only thing i know for sure is that it broke when I went from the ysali thread to the diabi without the ysali being dead, if that matters for the plugin creator

In addition, I should add that I did change the settings a bit after the creature threads were posted because I realized it was wrong. Would that have an effect?

Posting in another thread after a creature thread should have no effect, the keys are updated only when you actually make the post, so I have no idea how what you are describing happened.

Can you try to recreate it? And if so, tell me exactky what you did to trigger it.

Changing the plugin settings will have some effect on your current battles. Creature HPs will not be effected, not will the hit ratios, but the amount of damage you can do and receive will. If you are fighting a swarm you can also screw up the hit ratios, making the swarm either incredibly easy or hard to kill, depending on what you do.

Looking at the thread you linked to, it looks like something went wrong with smerdle's attack.. For whatever reason the creature's HP got screwed up.

Posting in another thread after a creature thread should have no effect, the keys are updated only when you actually make the post, so I have no idea how what you are describing happened.

Can you try to recreate it? And if so, tell me exactky what you did to trigger it.

Changing the plugin settings will have some effect on your current battles. Creature HPs will not be effected, not will the hit ratios, but the amount of damage you can do and receive will. If you are fighting a swarm you can also screw up the hit ratios, making the swarm either incredibly easy or hard to kill, depending on what you do.

I will see if we can recreate it yes, I also wanted to send you the settings I have on the creatures used in the examples I have up.

But all she knows is she went from one thread to another and was posting. And one of the settings I changed was that members weren't allowed to interact with the creatures, so I changed them to allow them to interact with them. I also, as the admin, cannot change members HP points in their profiles...and it doesn't show the HP in some of the threads either.

Would the age of the thread affect it at all? Since I did make the threads a couple months ago and moved them into other forums, but all forums are able to create the creature hunting threads.

Smerdle is trying to come up with a timeline of what she had done so we may better understand what went on. Because other threads seem to be working fine now that we are testing things.

EDIT: Could it be the account that she is on personally? Because whenever Smerdle posts, it breaks the code lol. Another one has broken. She's attempting to create a new account and post in another one.

EDIT 2: Her account doesn't allow me to edit her Hit Points or anything either, but now another member of mine, it does. But once Smerdle posts, it breaks and no longer works for anyone, giving the same error message.

EDIT 3: She created a new account and this one works perfectly fine. I am able to add HP to her new account and everything now. But her old account is still blank. As seen below:

That is bizarre, the only thing I can think of is that her key has been corrupted. The easy way to check that would be to reset the user key in the plugin, but in doing so you will also be resetting everybody's HP. If you are happy to try that let me know and I'll tell you how to if you don't already know.

Failing that, give me a couple of days and I'll add that function to the plugin so that you can reset only one users' key.

Okay so official response back was, yes, resetting the user settings worked. Lol. So you were right. Somehow her key must have become corrupted.

I have updated the plugin that will hopefully give you a way getting around this if it ever happens again.. Just waiting for it to be accepted to the library.

So another thing I've noticed. It may not matter too much, but I have noticed that when a creature dies, it doesn't actually state who killed it at the top of the post. Is that something I need to fix?

That is strange, as the key does contain the correct information, but for some reason the plugin is not displaying it correctly. The member link is there, but the name is omitted, so you can't see it... I'm beginning to think you may have a dodgey version of the plugin.

Version 0.1.3 is available, either from directly from that link or in the Library, so could you please try updating the plugin?

If you import the original settings the new plugin SHOULD work without any trouble, but there are a lot of variables and settings in this plugin, so you MAY need to check the settings if it plays up.
