Nested thread view?

This was asked a few years ago, but has anyone been able to get a nested thread view working? I'd love to have this as an alternate viewing option.

It's not a matter of 'getting it working', it's just not possible with the way the software loads posts (chronologically & in order of submission) which hasn't changed.
