Help structuring site

Hi there,

New here and much to learn.  I am having trouble understanding how I can structure my forum to my liking.  I would like to structure it with 3 different columns.  One column with the links to the pages--another Thread titles for Late Breaking news, etc.  and the other showing videos.

Closest example is this site:  www.democraticunderground.com

Can i get a bit of guidance on how to do this.  I might even consider hiring someone to do it for me.

Okay, is it something like this you're looking for? Can you elaborate on what data is being pulled in from where, on each column? Is this a custom page or is it your main forum page? (Which is what's being shown now: rebeldems.com/)

First off---thank you for replying. AND yes---that is exactly what I am looking for.I would like the left side to be the title to each section. IE: Forum Rules, About us, Late Breaking news, General discussion, Video's, and so on.

The middle part is for late breaking news. If someone posts a late breaking news story in the LBN section, I'd like to see it hit the front page at the same time.

The right side is for political video's---you tube. When someone posts a video I'd want it to hit the fromt page as well.. Also---I'd like these stories to have a duration on the front page and roll off after say 10 stores hit.

All right, this should be doable. The video section might have to be manually updated, though. I'm not sure that videos can specifically be scraped from threads, at least not without JavaScript.

Is this layout for the main forum home page, or a custom page?

Home page.

So the left section will be the guide---table of contents, etc.  the middle will be for Late Breaking news.  The right side will be for video's.  Is it possible to have the video screen capture show on that section?

I can get a basic version of this built out for you this week. At the latest by Sunday.

Can you elaborate on your last sentence? Do you mean that you'd like to show a still image from each video?

Yes---actually I figured it out using by embedding the youtube.  So if you look at my site currently.  I embedded youtube into my header but I'd like to have all my youtube videos on the right side of the page---going down vertical.  The middle page will be all the late breaking news---the left will be all my board links--IE:  Latest news, General discussion, rebelfems, etc.   sort of a table of contents.  

Also:  Would it be possible to add a box in the middle just above the Late Breaking News to show the video of the day?

Here's what I have: your main page is now a custom page built with the layout you had in mind, and the regular forum board list is accessible from a link in the main menu ("Forum"). It looks like custom pages don't have a widget to list boards, but you could manually enter the links for the boards you'd like to feature here.

This is a basic layout using a basic theme of mine, I can help you further customize it or make any desired changes.
