Is there a code that can be used in order to search an entire forum, just not a specific forum? Or maybe a code that when you type in a word/title you can go straight to that thread? For instance, when you search a title or author in goodreads.com's search box, it gives you drop down list of potential matches and when you click on it takes you straight to that book. I ask this because it'd be neat for really huge boards with a lot of sub forums. If you think about it, forums that are dedicated to discussion on movies and tv shows - it would be super helpful.

If you mean "search an entire forum and not just a specific board", then you've already got a global search feature. It's normally in your navbar aptly named Search. If you don't see it, go to Admin > Settings > Forum Settings > Navigation (tab) and enable it there. It's a non-deletable entry, so it should be there.
To search the entire forum, just leave entries blank - such as the Where to search ... section.

Oh no, that's not what I mean. I mean, a search feature that when you type in the field a drop down list appears and you can choose the forum (not thread/topic) you want to go to based on the text you typed and once you click on it, it takes you straight to that forum/sub-forum. It'd be a great feature for message boards that have a lot of forums/sub-forums based on title of popular books/tv shows/movies. Kind of like how IMDB.com is with their message boards. Every TV/Movie has its own forum to create topics in and has the same kind of search function as the one I am explaining.

Lynx means this search page. If you don't have it enabled you can enable it in the admin panel shown above.

To confirm what Quozzo posted, yes - I was referring to the Search option you find here: and not the one you find here (at the top of a thread):

Yes. That's the search feature that searches thread titles or words within a thread. This search option would search for Forum tiles where all threads are. For instance, if I wanted to find a specific Movie to talk about it in a movie based message board, I'd search for the movie (the movie would have its own forum) and then go straight to it where all the threads about it are located.

From what I understand is you are looking at examples that store databases to be searched through. You can search forums by relevant keywords here: proboards.com/forum-directory but this only will give you forums related to what you are searching not some specific thread or post.
