Hopefully I got this in the right board! Please move it to the correct one if I didn't.
Our forum has a cross-verification system which has ended up with having two member groups, Verified Members and Unverified Members. We want to make the verified members have one number of stars (haven't determined exactly how many yet but I assume that would be easy to change) and if possible a label saying "New Member" for two months after being added to the Verified Members group, and after those two months a different number of stars (again, undetermined) and a "Member" label. Can this be done?
Thank you!

Depends how your cross-verification system works; if you're able to save when said user is added to the group, then you definitely could complete this (e.g. user key). However, without that, PB templates and JS objects have no method to determine when a user was added to a group currently.

OK, let me explain our verification process. Our forum is intended as a replacement for a recently removed feature on another website, Duolingo. We want to make sure that accounts with well-known names are who they claim to be and that everyone are serious learners, so when someone registers an account we have them post on a DL forum page with the account name. Before they verify, we put them in an Unverified Members group which can't do anything except see a few boards and PM staff, then after they verify we move them to the Verified Members group. Will it work with this system?

trofaste, Unfortunately what you are asking isn't possible. Plugins cannot add / remove groups for a member. A plugin could change the group / stars that appears for all new members. That plugin could also remove all possible options (e.g., posting, viewing boards). And then once you verify the member, it would change the group that appears and also give them all the options. The problem with the plugin solution, is that if people really want to, they can get around it. Either by disabling JavaScript, or using a mobile device. And if you are not wanting anything sensitive to be accessible (e.g., a thread, or a board, as they would need all member access), then this definitely should not be considered.

Peter, Thanks for the answer. I wasn't thinking of adding or removing groups for a member, we do that manually (thankfully we're fairly small), and we also already have boards set up how we want them as far as who can see/post on them (thanks whoever was responsible for letting us do that easily), so really all we need is the stars, which it wouldn't be a big deal if someone did get around.
