How can I set up the gender area with Male, Female and other?

You would need to use custom profile fields. The default gender options are not editable.

I don't exactly know how to do that. I mean I know where the custom profile fields are and how to edit them but after that, I'm not too sure. Kami

What specifically are you looking to do? If you know how to create the fields, what is left?

I don't know how to get it show up in the profile after I do it.

Using the default ProBoards template, all custom profile fields should automatically appear once the option is filled. If you are not using the default template, you'll need to contact the creator of the theme for assistance with adding in additional fields to display.

A key point to Kami's post is: blank fields won't show - they have to have something in them for them to appear. Once a custom field is made, go to your profile, edit your profile, Personal tab, then scroll down to find the field you made. Put something in there, save and it should show up now. Blank it out (text field) or select None of the above (selection type fields) to remove the field from appearing.
