Kami I didn't see the notice till after I posted it. I'm so sorry. I also tried the plugin you suggested but it still won't let me at new fonts to the drop down menu for the fonts.

Kami I just tried that to and nothing. If you can't think of anything else, I'll just deal with what I have. All I wanted to do was edit one word for a post into cursive.

You can do that manually. (:
EDIT: I realise I may not have been clear. You don't need to add that font-face to the dropdown at all, and can just type it in manually. For example:
This is cursive. This is cursive.
Note however, that depending on your machine / installed fonts, said 'cursive' may appear differently from what you intend. The above example displays as comic sans for me, as 'cursive' is the umbrella group for fonts similar to comic sans, and doesn't necessarily denote an actual script-type font.
In order to make a uniform look, you should use the plugin as directed and have a look through the GoogleFont API for the font you wish to use. It would wind up being written the same as above, replacing "cursive" with whatever font name you've selected, eg:

KamiBecause of the way GoogleFont API is set up, I'd recommend them entirely. You could theoretically use any font, from anywhere but you'd also need to make sure the font file itself is hosted. If you don't have a host yourself, you'd have to rely on a free host which tends to have lots of bandwidth restrictions and whatnot. For simplicity's sake, I'd say GoogleFont is your best bet.
