About the Game
Star Trek: Above & Beyond [STAB] is a dual-level RPG set in the prime Star Trek universe.
State of the Federation
The year is 2397. The United Federation of Planets finds itself in a nightmare scenario - civil war. Section 31 has been exposed following an attempt to assassinate the Federation President and install one of their own, which has led to open conflict between factions within Starfleet and the member worlds of the Federation itself. Attempts to solve the conflict diplomatically have failed, and full-scale war now seems inevitable.
Starfleet, however, is stretched thin, and now needs the best and brightest of a new generation to reunite the fractured power as the rest of the galaxy plunges into chaos.
Starfleet needs heroes.
Starfleet needs YOU!
Dual-Level Roleplaying
STAB is played in two complementary ways:
1. Weekly live chat sessions
Each ship and crew play a live chat session every week at a set day and time. The Game Directors use these sessions to advance their story arcs with exciting, fun, and profound events, as well as problems of all sizes for the crews to solve.
2. Character Logs
Each player will have a thread for writing logs to detail their personal history, their activities between sessions, their thoughts and feelings, or whatever else you can think of (like elaborate holodeck scenes)! These logs supplement the action of the chat sessions and help create a living, breathing world filled with the kinds of stories and interactions that make Star Trek great.
Ships of the Line
At the moment, we currently have three ships in service, though we're always looking to add more.
The USS Zorya - An Akira-class starship that's seen action in every major conflict since the Dominion War. It plays every Monday at 1900 UTC (12:00pm PDT/3:00pm EDT).
The USS Chiron - An Intrepid-class explorer with a young Captain and crew. It plays every Thursday at 1900 UTC (12:00pm PDT/3:00pm EDT).
Odyssey Station & USS Tempest - A state-of-the-art space station in orbit of Aldebaran, and a key facility in the conflict with Section 31, with the Galaxy-class USS Tempest attached. It plays every Sunday at 0200 UTC (Saturday at 7:00pm PDT/10:00pm EDT).
About Us
STAB is the latest iteration of a game that has been played for two decades, and two of our three founders have been playing since the 90s (the other since '06). So, while this iteration is new, we are very, very experienced, and we have a core of great players to get us started, but we always have room for more passionate and dedicated role-players who would like to join in our adventures.
We are also newbie friendly, and accommodate a lot of different styles. While we have a number of talented and prolific log-writers, verbosity is not a requirement for participation.
If you have any questions you want to ask before registering, feel free to PM me (frx51) here, and I'll get back to you.
Thanks for reading, and we'll see you in the fractured frontier!
