Is there a way to add the newsfeed to my custom pages?

Is there a way to add the newsfeed to my custom pages? I would like the scrolling feed to be at the top of my home page and other custom pages. Is there a way to do this?

The newsfader can only be called on the home page as that is the only time that information is available, and it wouldn't be able to be fetched by plugin or stand-alone javascript either because the information simply does not exist on any other page.

You could theoretically work around this by creating your own and specifying where it appears via HTML.

It isnt on my home page, it is on my first forum page, which is pretty useless for that to be the only page its on

You misunderstand. I am not speaking of the default landing page that you have designated, but the "home" page as designated by the forum's backend (as in, the page that includes the content designated in the "home" layout template, which is where the newsfader variable of $[news] (and thus content) is available).

It is irrelevant, unfortunately, which page you select to be the default landing page in regards to what content integrated with the software you can display at any given time. Sometimes if the information is available on that page (though it may be hidden), you'll be able to display something, but in this case the newsfader can only be called on the home page (again, as dictated by the software, not your designated landing page).

If you wanted to use your forum wrapper template in order to create an HTML box with a scrolling marquee, that's possible. You could then use route names to designate the page(s) it would display on.

Unfortunately that would mean that you'd need to do that for every single theme, if you had multiple or would be interested in doing multiple themes in the future.

Alternatively, you can go to the Plugin Request Board and ask for a scrolling marquee box plugin that will allow you to dictate the URLs the box displays on (which would need javascript outside of the templates).

I see this topic is over a month old, but have you tried the Random News plugin? It'll show on whatever page you place the <div> at.

It works almost like the built-in News Feed - you set up your text lines, static or dynamic change and how often it changes when on dynamic. It doesn't have the flip or marquee style (it just changes to the next one with no animation), but it does have a Justification setting for each News Line as well as the ability to add links (that can be set to open in the same tab (default) or a new tab).

Actually the dev who made the forum marquee plugin altered it for me, so that it now works on all pages ^-^
