Hey guys. Sorry if this is in the wrong place. Basically, what I'm trying to do is put up a sidebar that scrolls automatically and then restarts from the beginning continuously. I know when I did it years ago on ezboard I had to use a combination of CSS and JavaScript but I can't recall the code. Can anyone help? Thanks a ton guys!

Some more information is needed.
Is the sidebar sitting next to your content ? Are you using a sidebar plugin ?
If you want it sitting next to the content, then a little calculation would be needed, if not and you wanted it sliding in from the side with a fixed position and have the content scroll that might be a little easier.
can you post your markup(html) ?

I'm not currently using a sidebar plugin. I'd like it on the side of the forum border, like a fixed height and width table that scrolls the text and then repeats. I've tinkered with sidebar redux, but I didn't see the options I was looking for. Do you need all of the HTML or just a certain section?

Nah you don't need to post anything if you don't have it. I'm just trying to get a picture in my head of what your asking for.

I may do some tinkering to see if I can get it. If you can help that'd be awesome

I see there is a Simple Text Scroll plugin that might be usable in the Sidebar Redux. Perhaps you can ask the plugin author in their support thread that I linked.

How do you use one plugin within another?

I am sorry, but you would need to ask someone else, perhaps a coder, for that. I simply remember seeing that someone had used the Recently Updated Threads plugin within the Sidebar Redux plugin - hence why I had suggested seeing if the Simple Text Scroll plugin might be able to work in the Sidebar Redux plugin. I had also seen a forum marquee plugin in the plugin library. I do not know if that would work inside the Sidebar Redux, though. Again, you may need to ask the author(s).

Got it figured out. Used the Sidebar Redux plugin and HTML marquee coding. Thanks anyway guys! For anyone curious, The Galactic News sidebar on the left side of my board here is what I'm talking about. Used mouseover tags so it stops when you mouse over it and starts back up when you mouse off it.

For anyone curious, The Galactic News sidebar on the left side of my board here is what I'm talking about. Used mouseover tags so it stops when you mouse over it and starts back up when you mouse off it. I see you're using the <marquee> tag. Please take note that the <marquee> tag is deprecated, which means that browsers may stop supporting it at any time. While it is still working, you may want to look for an alternative method for your marquee code before it quits working. Also, not sure if it's just Firefox or my computer, but the mouseover doesn't seem to work in stopping the scrolling.

Yea. Firefox doesn't like marquees. It always played hell when I used it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a JavaScript/CSS alternative to work.
Edit: Can anyone help with a solution in CSS that will work on proboards? Everything I've tried doesn't.

Ah ok, I see now you wanted scrolling text and not a fixed sidebar, sorry wires got crossed. I built a demo for you over on codepen. Feel free to mess around with it for your needs. If you want to use it on your site. You will need to convert babel(js) and less(css) to pure js&css from each of the dropdowns. It's similar to what a marquee does, anyway hope that helps.
