trying to decide if I can store my extra smilies for dropdown smilies plugin. I have 100 smilies for the plugin. I just want to do it once and be done. Right now it's on tinypic

I have something like 220 smilies hosted inside one ProBoards hosted theme that I use with the dropdown smilies plugin. The system isn't even breathing hard.

Thanks Jaguar, I think it makes it a little easier when we are all in this together and not the only one being blackmailed. I know it helped me reading others posts as I shared their frustrations.

Hi all,

I've had to rehost 2000 images after losing my Photobucket account. Then it took an age to track down all my links on my forum so I could edit them to point to the new host. I'm all done now but a few of my members are finding the whole thing rather daunting. Not rehosting, just the link editing side of things.

Is there a simple way to prevent the awful replacement Photobucket image showing all over my forum - at least until people can edit their links? Maybe a block on Photobucket links?

You can use the censored words list to censor "photobucket" which would break links and prevent images from showing, if that works for you? You'd have to get creative about mentioning photobucket though -- ♥ ℒʊ√ ♥ uses p'bucket for instance.

Assuming you're the main admin of the forum navigate to Themes > Colors & Theme Creator in your admin area and either remove or replace the image URL specified in the Banner Image field on that page.

Reminder. This thread is for discussion. Anyone having tech issues relating to their forum and Photobucket (including help in locating their links) please create your own thread here on support. We're happy to help locate the source of those elusive links. Just don't come and say where are all the photobucket links on my forum. You need to make the effort first please.

Trying to fix the problem isn't long term. Unless you pay $399/annually, it's now against Photobucket's ToS to place their linked images on third party sites.

So unless one intends to pay the annual $399, it's simply best to find another image host that allows (at least currently) putting images on third party sites. But the sad truth is, any of those can change their ToS at at time, just as Flickr, Imgur and now Photobucket has.

There's no easy/fast solution to this. Hard work is involved moving and re-hosting images on a site that allows same, but it's got to be done. Unless one is going to pay Photobucket the $399 annual fee.

But it's best to use ProBoards' storage for ProBoards' images that make up your themes, plugins and board images. That's a far more permanent solution.

To add to what ♥ ℒʊ√ ♥ said, any "fix" that doesn't involve paying photobucket is not a fix. What it is, is a) a TOS violation as mentioned, and b) a temporary, stop-gap measure at best. Photobucket is already cracking down on people using this as a work around (it works for some accounts, but has been disabled for others), and it could literally get you banned from the service which then means that your content is permanently inaccessible.

And, I have to add, that as unfair and ridiculous as I find Photobucket's new terms & pricing, the fact that people are going through such lengths to "work around" their impositions rather than finding a new host only serves to underscore why they felt they needed to take such drastic measures to prevent "theft" of bandwidth and generate revenue.
