Kami Could be a disgruntle employee who didn't get the weekend off? LOL! No. Probably not. ♥ ℒʊ√ ♥ Ah so Photobucket are the ones telling people they are being hacked? It sure does sound weird. I just now came back from making a copy of what I had in my photobucket account. Wow that was memory lane. I think I should just delete my account from them. I'm not on facebook so at least I won't have to see what they've been saying over there. My friend is safe. He never used facebook PHOTOBUCKET for his website in the first place, thank goodness. Hey.... Has anyone HERE, or has any PROBOARD admins reported having any of their sites images down because of photobucket yet?
Edited above. That was supposed to say photobucket and not facebook.

Multiple. There were several threads when this first went down about this issue, which is how PB was alerted to it.

This is frustrating. A lot of my earliest work on ProBoards from 10+ years ago is on PhotoBucket. ImgBox said they're going to shutdown (and reversed it, but good chance they'll shut down). TinyPic is also owned by PhotoBucket and may face something similar soon. I'm glad I made my own and left all of these hosts. I think your work is still hosted on Photobucket. It's just that the 3rd party hosting has been stopped, so you'd need to right click on each image, copy the image address, paste it into Google, and then download the image before re-hosting. A long process for sure. It's just rather depressing to think of the old threads, old things across ProBoards... No longer having those images with them. From imgbox site: Sounds like the opposite of shutting down. ImgBox made the decision of shutting down. Several others shut down. I.Minus, ImgBox, YFrog, SomeImage, Gifyu, Wi.To (both shut down and came back numerous times). They come back. Shut down again. Come back. Sometimes it is a donation revenue ploy. Other times they seriously cut back. ImageShack removed several of their servers, and terabytes of data a while ago, for even active images! These sites are purging old content. Imgur is blocking hotlinking. ImgBox seems to be evolving toward what Imgur is. It is terrifying. I now recommend getting a small hosting plan for yourself, and host your own images or find a great image host you trust and like. Kami Could be a disgruntle employee who didn't get the weekend off? LOL! No. Probably not. ♥ ℒʊ√ ♥ Ah so Photobucket are the ones telling people they are being hacked? It sure does sound weird. Has anyone HERE, or has any PROBOARD admins reported having any of their sites images down because of photobucket yet? 0 My old Roleplay websites have their images down. But, people got the picture rather fast what happened. A lot of older communities use PhotoBucket. A lof of these older communities felt alienated by the rampant tightening rules on ProBoards Support so they rarely come here. They're very active on other resource websites, because, these resouce websites have "volunteer" support catered to them, for their questions, when ProBoards users here, aren't the best to answer them. This is a huge issue to a lot of people, and a lot of classic archives. It feels as if part of the internet is lost. Honestly, if Photobucket's been hacked, you know they would have heard by now and called everyone off vacation holiday. They would have all been back at work getting all of this straightened out. I seriously doubt they would allow a hacker to take over like this. I mean, that is the most likely scenario, yes, but a little caution never hurt anything. I agree with you though it seems unlikely! I agree. Photobucket seems to be riding this out. They updated their FAQ site about this as well. This was a planned endevour as seen here. Their login form isn't secure. That is a true issue and it is an issue, to not have a secure login. But, Photobucket is an ancient site. It doesn't surprise me. The etire reason why it is reporting not secure, is that they're calling their javascript and CSS from non-secure parts of their server. They also have a $10 off coupon code for this $399.99 charge... forumac , besides the plugin listed above, you can also use ProBoards' attachment feature (it does have a storage limit and once reached you can either delete photos or pay for additional ProBoards' storage).
And there's other free hosting sites that still permit 3rd party linking such as ~ village.photos, nickpic.host, postimage.io/ imageshack.us/
I hope this helps. Thank you for the recommendation! I do appreciate it! However, my site is targeted toward a limited audience. ImageShack also will delete old content, and will begin to charge for too much traffic.

He never used facebook for his website in the first place, thank goodness. Hey.... Has anyone HERE, or has any PROBOARD admins reported having any of their sites images down because of photobucket yet? No, no, no, Skidjit . Photobucket is neither confirming nor denying a hack. They're simply not replying with anything but a canned response that doesn't answer anything. And their last reply appears to be July 1st.
It's the members who are reporting issues. They can't access their accounts; they can't remove their images; they're paying and the images are still not showing up. Some paid and the payment page was not secure, and they have had no acknowledgment if the payment was received.
If hacked, anyone can change the ToS. And since there are wide scale issues, it's making the community jittery, to say the least.
And yes, several members here have had problems. That's how I found out there was an issue. Without coming here, I wouldn't be the wiser. I was certainly not advised of the change by P'Bucket.
Thank you for the recommendation! I do appreciate it! However, my site is targeted toward a limited audience. ImageShack also will delete old content, and will begin to charge for too much traffic. leif , I had NO idea NickPic is your site. Tinselled Loki recommended it here. I'm happy for this information. If you only want a limited audience, I won't add any more images. But it is a wonderful site. Great job. Very impressive. Your set-up is fantastic!

Hey it's late. Time for sleep. Hopefully, things will be better in the morning. Tomorrow being the fourth... esh. Well, maybe the next day they can straighten this out.
I hope you all have a Goodnight.

Ah, I see. I apologize, leif . And thank you.
I didn't realize that. I didn't read that on the site or in your siggy here. And Boy_Wonder didn't post that caveat when recommending the site here on Support.

Please do not worry about it. Loki is a roleplayer and an active member of many resource communites, and thus, I understand. I'm happy to see it recommended. I don't mind helping others in this Photobucket crisis. If anyone joins it for non RPG/Story Telling/Designer/Resource purposes, just PM me so I can flag your account to be immune to that ToS rule. thanks!

..and that ^^ was why I didn't join NickPic, the RP part of it. I have a writer's forum but RP'n plays no role on it so the images I'd have upped wouldn't have had anything to do with it. I haven't found a site just yet.(tho Luv and a few others have mentioned plenty) Most of my images haven't been affected yet. Most of my images fall under graphics ie sigs, avs, theme related, quotes and other misc. leif , that's sweet that your offering to help.

Ok amid all the doom and gloom concerning Photobucket, one of my forum members brought my attention to this when they went to join Fotki. As it is I had already joined and highly recommend It really made me smile though and think every alternative photo host should have one LOL!

Hi, Lainey2712 ~
I've checked out their ToS and I don't see how much storage (or bandwidth) they offer for free. Or the costs for their premium service other than it's non-refundable.
Do they give more specifics once you join?
I'm happy where I'm at. But if others I know want recommendations, I know they'll ask me these questions.

One one of the other listed sites that run off donations only there is a $399.99 donation that says "Pay us instead of Photobucket".

Fotki are no longer free as they were years ago, they give you a months free trial, after that their pricing is far better than photobucket NO ads, A 100gb storage, unlimited bandwidth for $24 a year Here is a link to all their plans secure.fotki.com/payment/view

Considering most users won't use more than 10GB, it stacks up rather nicely.
