Thank you so much for the quick reply, Lainey2712 . It's appreciated.
And you're right, leif . That's fair and reasonable.
I have friends needing recommendations. So knowing all of the options out there helps.

..and that ^^ was why I didn't join NickPic, the RP part of it. I have a writer's forum but RP'n plays no role on it so the images I'd have upped wouldn't have had anything to do with it. I haven't found a site just yet.(tho Luv and a few others have mentioned plenty) Most of my images haven't been affected yet. Most of my images fall under graphics ie sigs, avs, theme related, quotes and other misc. leif , that's sweet that your offering to help. Story tellers are allowed in those terms. Good to know. I'll move your site to the top for when I need it then. Thank you.

With the experience I have had, with an automated reply and then one saying we hadn't heard from you, (umm never knew I was meant to reply to the auto reply email) I doubt they will get an answer anytime soon.

Something occurred to me while I was trying to restore a few of the images we lost following the Photobucket debacle.
Currently there is a plugin called Simple Image Upload, which makes it possible for people with even the most basic computer skills to upload images to forums that have installed the plugin. The images are hosted on Postimage.org. Would it be possible to integrate something like this to Proboards' regular platform (for lack of a better word)? Maybe even with several possible host sites to choose from?
Let's face it: nowadays Proboards' real competition is not really other forum hosts. It's Facebook Groups. Each of my two music forums is in competition with several music FB groups. Even the most technologically challenged person can post images to FB, they are all hosted on site. A couple of clicks and you're done. Some of my members don't even understand the concept of image hosting, so it really needs to be simple. There are many people like that all over the internet and I think that this is what explains, at least in part, the attraction of FB groups.
Anyway, this is just something I wanted to throw your way while I ponder how I'm going to plug all the holes left on my two forums by the Photobucket Mess.

I think this is an idea worth considering, and likely more feasible than turning PB into an image hosting site in its own right. I think the issue would be logistics though; the simple image plugin uses postimg because the plugin creator either owns, or is part of postimg. If PB were to offer a built-in functionality, they'd need to enter business partnerships with the hosting sites, which obviously would be not just a $ issue, but would still run into the problems of finding willing hosts that would not mind being used as a content delivery network that are also free.

Plus one must remember, whether free or paid, companies fail. So there would be no guarantee that this same situation couldn't happen with the partnership.
And yes, it appears the Simple Image plugin's creator owns an interest in ImgBB. The surer, more permanent bet is hosting one's own images on one's own domain.

I can now transfer images in bulk to zip files. If anyone needs help let me know. I built a little thing on my server to scrape your entire photobucket.

So sad. But there's their official word. What a nasty way to go about this.
It's now affected one of my plugins and I've just posted a thread to notify the creator.
