i'm pretty new to this and have only tried once before to make a forum, and a handful of times to code a website.. i know very little and have always found styles i liked and tried to learn by looking at what that person did. i am currently making a forum for the show Twin Peaks and was looking through layouts when i came upon this one, which i liked very much: i really wanted to do something similar and have ended up with this: there are three things bothering me that i don't quite know how to fix. the tables for the boards are bigger in my layout and i don't know how to change that.. i originally made a smaller banner image (the one in this screencap) that fits okay, but when i made a longer one, because i thought it made look better to extend the banner out ( this image) i couldn't get it to fit correctly, and it kept repeating, like tiling, and looked awful.. and the third is simply that no matter what i do i can't seem to get the navigation tree (where it says The Bookhouse > home; i assume that's it's name) to go between the banner and the buttons.. what can i do?? i would appreciate any help i could get. i hope i don't upset anyone by having made a layout very similar to one i saw.. i didn't know exactly where else to start and really loved the general layout of this, but wanted my own images and color schemes.

there are three things bothering me that i don't quite know how to fix. the tables for the boards are bigger in my layout and i don't know how to change that.. Do you mean wider or taller? I'm thinking wider is what you mean but I'm not sure the screen caps of each are the same proportions. On their site they have the banner the whole width of the screen (or so it appears) which means a slight template change so you can change the board width/forum body width. But can you clarify and I'm sure someone, if not myself, can help with this. In the Visual Editor where you added the banner, there is a option to set it to not repeat. It'll say: Background Repeat and you should select no repeat. (Admin>Themes> Advanced Styles & CSS>Visual Editor>Header (Top) >Forum Banner>Banner Image ) Also you could try adding this to the bottom of your style sheet (while in visual editor click the css tab) to have it fit no matter what screen resolution a member is using. #banner{background-size:cover;} You'll need t head to your Forum Wrapper template: (Admin Home> Themes> Layout Templates>) and find this bit (somewhere around line 52): $[participated_threads_link] {if $[navigation.tree]} <div id="navigation-tree"> $[navigation.tree] </div> {/if} Scroll up until you get to about line 21 nad paste the nav tree code right below the last </div> <div id="banner-container" role="banner"> <h2 id="banner"> $[forum.title] </h2> </div> And that should move it below the banner and above the navigation menu.

But can you clarify and I'm sure someone, if not myself, can help with this. right, i mean wider! sorry! it is actually both wider and taller but i'm assuming it looks higher up because my banner is not as tall! if i could change the width i'd be happy with that. ahh thank you!! now it looks like this! much better! is there a way to extend the banner to reach each side so that you don't see the bg (the part that looks like wood) behind the banner? should i just make a wider banner image if i want that or is there a way i can add a block of color behind the banner to extend so that it fits different people's screen sizes? yay!! that fixed it, thank you so much! i had tried before i posted this to move it in the visual editor but it wouldn't work so i'm really relieved!
