AD Banner either footer or header possibly both

Hello I used to use Proboards several years ago, just now recently back with another forum and really struggling with doing things the way I used to, I am sure its easier than what I am trying to do.

1. I would like to add Advertising banners on my forum whether they be small square box type ads on the side or long narrow banner type ads on header or footer, cant seem to add either?

2. Kinda off this topic but I downloaded and installed a plugin called Member of the month and cant get it to show up on board.

This board is brand new not out there yet as I am not read to go to market yet, I want to be sure I get it the way I like it before releasing so to speak.

1. First I have to ask, are the ads to generate money?  If so you can't do that unless you go ad free. If it is just for banner ads for your own site to like to advertise an event or something to do with your site that's fine. Also if it is to affiliate with other sites like yours with no money involved then that is fine too. 

For side boxes, the way we do things now is with plugins which you can download straight from your administration panel and there is a plugin called "Sidebar Redux" which puts boxes on the side which you can then add whatever content you want and have as many boxes as you want. You can see what I mean as I enabled the Sidebar Redux on my test site: abetteramerica.freeforums.net/

Would that work?

2. Did you check to make sure it is enabled (Go to Admin>Plugins>Manage) and make sure the box is ticked. Silly question but did you fill out the information the plugin requires.  Also some plugins have options on what themes you want them to work on so if that plugin has that (I never used it so can't tell you if it does), make sure you are viewing the themes you enabled it on.

Tumbleweed appreciate the reply, Okay on first question I know I will have to go ad free and thats what I am trying to get to, so yes looking to get advertisers eventually. So side boxes would be okay too.

The Plugin I tried is clicked and is filled out but great question because I missed that the first time.... lol

It just doesn't show up anywhere and not sure why or maybe if I am not putting it somewhere, I thought the program did that for me, but I may need to paste a code somewhere? maybe?

You shouldn't have to do anything besides fill it out and make sure when you go to your plugin manager the enable box is ticked beside it? If it is ticked then maybe something is wrong with your html?
