Just wondering if is it possible to connect to a mysql or sqlite database? I ask this because I have a server hosted that works with data stored in databases and would be cool if this is possible or atleast if this can be added in a future.

Sure. If you use Javascript on ProBoards to transfer inputted data to a PHP processed form in the background, on an offsite server.
It has been done before for codes such as view counts, etc

depends. If you are just fetching data then yes. is your server using an API schema? If it just returns a view(html) then no.

output the data as JSON and use JSONP to retrieve it.

I have been searching for info about how to get this work but everything ends in a failure. Does anyone have something to start with, a function or something? I would be very thankful if someone can give me a hand about it

do you have an intermediary server setup(php|node)?
If not then no and it would be difficult to answer your question fully.
