I want to disable the section below the forum banner, and above the nav tree. Found this, but this disables the navigation tree, which I do not want to have disabled. The section I am trying to turn off is the "Home Search Members Profile Messages Rules etc" section, because I want to include a special navigation bar there.
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
/* remove 'nav' tree by ross
open source - please leave header intact */
var a = document.getElementsByTagName('a');
for(i=0; i<a.length; i++) {
if(a.item(i).className == 'nav') {
var obj = a.item(i).parentNode;
while(obj.firstChild.nodeName.match(/^(br|a|#text|font)$/i)) {
obj.removeChild(obj.firstChild);
}
break;
}
} </script>

Ben Goodman, Have you thought about going to Admin > Settings > Forum Settings, Navigation bab, and then just unchecking everything in the desktop column? You should leave items checked in the mobile column since any changes to the layout templates will not apply to those viewing via the mobile version.

Hello!
That is not what I want to see. I just want to disable it for a specific board.id, so javascript is pretty much necessary.

I don't really think Javascript would be necessary for this, You could wrap the nav menu in an if condition via templates to hide it, such as:
{if $[board.id] != "X"} nav menu stuff here {/if}
If you're OK with that I could help you out, but if you'd rather us js then I'll leave it to someone else (:

Didnt think that variables not included in the sidebar would work in the forum wrapper template. Well, this helped a lot. Thanks, it can now be marked as solved.

Well yes and no -- the forum wrapper encompasses ALL of the pages on the forum, so if you add in a variable that can be found on a specific page into the forum wrapper, then it will take effect when you are on that specific page (: However, if you try to do the same for something that doesn't appear globally (eg: trying to put the $[news] variable anywhere other than the home page), then it wouldn't work.
