Coloring and Marking new Posts and add Stars + Quotes

Hellou!

I need some help with my forum. I really tried much around but I can't find what I am looking for...

1.
I want that my forum shows when there are new posts. (http://hester-norima.boards.net > Shades of Grey Template )
The grey square where you can read "Posts" and "Threads" below should be have the colour red when a new post or new thread is opened. Or somehow I wanna sign that you can see at the first view that there is a new post..

2. 
I want that you can see the stars you earn by being active in the profile below the name and the  mini profile (http://hester-norima.boards.net/user/1)
and I wanna show infos there. Like the nickname of Location etc..

Hey, Foxiary,

I'm a bit hesitant to help you here because the creator of this theme says, " Changes of images, colors, fonts, and other minor changes are more than welcomed." but seems a bit more wanting the template not to be messed with, at least that is my take.  You may want to post in her thread to ask if these changes are o.k. because for sure, getting something to show new posts/threads would be a template change.
