Problems redoing my forum

I killed my Photobuckets due to their new pricing, and we can upload images now without hosting anyhow. I figured out the Background, but the banner seems to TILE no matter which options I select, suggestions at what I am doing wrong?


And I can't seem to find where to upload an image to take out the generic meowing kitty that appears in the square to the left in each category. Since I use this for my website, I'd like any of several images I have to be there, for instance, and antique typewriter (I'm an author). Where is the place where I change the kitty to an image from my harddrive, please? 


BTW I am technoidiot, a word I coined for myself. I can learn, but I have to be taught. Don't throw technical terms, tell me in plain English where to find, what to do. Thanks.

Hi robinla

1. Make sure you are on the correct theme. If you go to Admin Home > Visual Editor > Header (Top) > Banner > Banner Image you havew the option of having it repeat or not. Set it to not repeat and don't forget to click save. If it still tiles something in the stylesheet is over-riding things.

2. Go to Admin Home > Themes and hover the theme you want to change the kitty image in and click on images. This will bring you to the Images tab, then scroll down to the Forum Icons section and you will see the kitty image. To change it either upload a new one in its place or you can resest to default.

Thanks for the reply, but neither one of these things is exactly working the way stated.

1. If I go to Admin Home, there is no Visual Editor showing for me to follow the rest of the steps. I am thinking this is in some other option, a step was left out? I tried looking in several combinations and could not find it.

2. I go to Admin Home, then Themes, and again, a step seems to be left out? If I bring up Colors and Theme Creator, it shows the kitty image I wish to change out, but hovering over that image does nothing, brings up nothing, right or left clicking does not bring up a way to change this image.

Oops I was sure I had the complete path to follow.

1. Admin Home > Themes > Advanced Styles & CSS > Visual Editor then look for Header (Top) and click on it to open the menu up and click on Forum Banner to open it up and click on Banner Image to open it. Then you have the option of having it repeat or not. Set it to not repeat and don't forget to click Save Theme.


2. Admin Home > Themes > Theme Manager > Theme Settings and hover over the Theme Name that you are using and some buttons will appear, click on the Images Button, this will bring you to the Images Tab, then scroll down to Forum Icons. You will see three buttons to the right of the kitty image, "Link, Upload, Default". To replace the kitty image click either on Upload or Link, (depending on how you want to replace it, this bit autosaves.

OK, the first one works...sorta, guess I will need to find someone to create a new banner since the old one doesn't fit at all and I can't seem to scale things. Changing the colors anyway, so I will see what I can do. Thanks for the help!
