Tix Mascot and ginger , I'm considering giving this a try.

1. How many images can you load?

2. Do they only appear randomly, or can you set it to change to just one new image every 24 hours (or any admin-specified timeframe)?  Ideally I'd like to load like 10 images, and display a unique new image every day. Is that possible?

I think that the function recommended by ginger can be set to include single images and/or selected groups of them through a filter, but I never got it to work, so I was unable to try it out.

The one I currently use can be loaded with an indefinite number of URLs, but it's a very simple thing that has no advanced features built into it and it just rotatets randomly among the images on the list. That's all I need as long as my members are happy with it.

But if you Google the matter, you may possibly find more sophisticated solutions.

my suggestion allowed you to upload the images, drag them into a bottom box that acts as a "file" for all the images you wish to rotate. Then it'll just cycle through them randomly each time the page is refreshed.  {It was a bit fun to have different sizes and gradients to make the it "easier" or "harder" }

You can add new files for different seasons-celebrations. And was pretty easy to modify which images you wished to keep by simply dragging them up or down.

I can't recall.. but I think there's a limit for how many times it'd rotate... After certain view count. Buuut I've never hit it and never had problems so I don't really think about this limitation.

Thanks you two. So it doesn't look like this would be a good solution for my forums. We change to a different single image every day. But I might use this for a Christmas or Halloween hunt and let them just rotate like you are describing.

m2marsh, I did a little research and found a couple of sites that may have the functions that you are looking for. But you have to pay to use them, so I don't know if you would be interested.

I did find one promising free site, however, which seems to contain the options to rotate among predetermined images evey day or month.

If you think that it could be useful to you, you can give it a try.

Or you can select the right keywords and continue the search. With all the billions of possibilities out there on the WWW, I'm sure that you will eventually find something that you are happy with. The clue is to never give up until you succeed!

Just started using this plugin and I'm having trouble with some modifications.

1) Is there a way to exclude staff from playing yet still see the member stuff, leaderboard, edit everything etc where needed? Basically, we need to use the plugin but not find any items ourselves. 

2) Is there a way to make the orange transparent? And fix the alignment as it's overlapping avatars and then placing a lot of space below it. Example: 


I've tried to follow instructions on how to edit the orange or any visual stuff of the plugin but I can't seem to find it or figure any of that out.

3) When the icon's clicked to see how many someone has - it has the title "Trick or Treat!" which I can't change anywhere. I'm not using it as a Halloween event so I'd like to have a different heading. And for some reason the member's name isn't being added just the " 's ". Example:

Currently, no. I'll add that to my list of things to add, but it may not happen until V6. If I can get to it sooner, I will - but no promises. Sorry.

Some instructions earlier in this thread may have been posted when the plugin was editable. However, you can still style elements of the plugin. Try targeting the .userBag class to adjust the CSS for that.

For your title issue - I've just submitted version 1.0.4 which now adds a new option in the What's the prize? tab named Container Title. If left blank, it will use the current "Trick or Treat" title. Just put your own title in there and the plugin will use that instead.

For the missing name - If that person has not yet collected an item, there is no data for them yet - so there's no name for the plugin to use. I'll add that to my fix list. That one will require me to be more awake than I am now (it's about 3:30am for me as of this post), so that one will have to be in a future update.

NOTE: Since I've just submitted version 1.0.4, you'll have to wait until it gets approved before it'll show up in the library.

Hello!

I'm having a problem with this plugin. At first everything worked fine (loaded 7/28), but then last night (7/29) I noticed that the leaderboard was lagging the actual prize counts in the mini-profiles. It seemed to be time-related because after a while it would catch up and the two would synchronize.

But then this morning, the leaderboard is completely wrong: prize counts are off by hundreds (low), and some players are completely missing that were present last night.

Example:





Siggy above is the top player (currently with 839 prizes), but the leaderboard is showing him as #4 with 30 prizes. Also, the leaderboard shows only 8 players, but last night when it was accurate it showed 12.

Can you help? We really love this game.

Ditch, that just happens. It will correct itself as soon as the people whose counts are off click on another image. The developer hasn't figured out why that happens but it does happen. But the count in the mini profile is always accurate.

As m2marsh stated above, I haven't figured out why this happens. Therefore, I'm making some inquiries and I'll post here when I hear something back. My apologies in the interim (to anyone who is experiencing this issue).

To anyone watching this thread, here is the reply I got back:

More than likely someone clicked a prize on a cached page which would had have old key data loaded. Since data still ended up in the key, then that is likely the cause.

As this seems to be the most probable cause, it has been suggested that I add a timer on the page when a prize is present. When the timer reaches 0, the prize will disappear. While this may not totally eliminate the issue, it should cut down on the issue occurring.

The next month for me is going to be very hectic. My schedule eases up at the beginning of September, where I can start giving a lot more attention to plugin issues. In the interim, what should help is if forum owners instruct their members that, when they are on a page with a prize, click the image right away - don't just sit on that page, open another tab, then come back and click it later. While the member's personal count will be accurate, the old data that's present for the leaderboard data can get severely messed up. Those whose counts do not match - have that member find a prize and click on it right away. The leaderboard should eventually correct itself - as long as people are getting the prize as soon as possible.

A note about the timer when I can get it added - it will be hard-coded, so please do not ask for an option to adjust it. The reason, if set to too high, this issue will most likely remain. Therefore, there will be no option to adjust the timer's length.

The leaderboard is a HUGE hit on my forum. The members want Scavenger Hunt to be a permanent feature of the forum, and to play it repeatedly in tournaments. Would either of the two scenarios below be a possible game feature?

1) Game automatically goes into 'Maintenance Mode' when the first player reaches X number of points (prizes).

or

2) Game automatically goes into 'Maintenance Mode' after X number of days.

#1 is preferred over #2. We're looking for a way to have games end automatically without having to resort to screen captures or other methods.
