link to first unread

I'd love a link next to the thread title - anywhere that the thread is listed, eg home page, bookmarks - which jumps to the oldest post since the user last visited that thread. I imagine this is quite a simple one?

Would be more fun to have a customisable icon for the link, but that would be a bonus.

Hi,

There already is a link, simply click on the 'New' icon displayed on any thread that has been updated since you last viewed it and you should be taken to the first unread post of that thread.

This icon can also be changed in your Admin Panel.

Thanks Todge. The link is invisible in the theme I'm using (Midnight Blue) so I hadn't realised it was there. I'll change its icon!

Actually... I can't find it in settings! I expected it to be under Images in Thread icons or Forum icons.

Check in the Visual Editor for the theme instead:




If I'm not mistaken, the New icon is not actually an image - just styled text - which would explain why you didn't see it in your theme's images.

Aha, yes. I had wondered which text 'New icon' referred to. Thanks!

Hi, I'm back. No matter whether I amend the text colour, weight etc, or the background colour or border colour, still nothing shows. Before I started fiddling with them, the settings were as shown in your picture.

Here on this (support) forum, it is an image: storage.proboards.com/forum/images/icons/board-new-post.png . But I don't know how to tell it to appear where I want it.

On the main page, new posts are denoted with the image you linked to, but on the thread listings page it is a coloured text link.

Which one are you trying to change?

Sorry, again, only just seen this. I'm away from home with few minutes to play so I'll look again next week.
