Peter, you magnificent person! Thank you so much! Seeing a notification from you instantly had me smiling cuz you always have something good to post hahah. I really, really appreciate you taking the time to code something for me! I'm relieved to have an extra step in there helping me install precautions from people eating up all of my pageviews. When I first got forums.net, you had the option to go back to the free software if you needed to, so I wasn't nervous. Now there isn't that option, so I'm terrified that my forum, which I have spent "3 days 7 months 5 years" of my life creating, will become too expensive and I honestly don't know what I'd do... easier to hopefully avoid that terrible situation haha
You're brilliant for throwing in the debugger right off the bat, by the way. Lets me test it out, too. And the default message about cookies cracked me up xD

The only true request I have, could it perhaps behave like vpester in that it won't continually bug them after the first pop-up during the same time interval set in the plugin? I'm hoping for the pop-up to discourage people who are considerate and will understand they're harming my wallet hah, but don't want it to push them away by showing the popup every refresh after they've hit the limit. So if the limit is 100 views in 1 hour, it'd be like:


Hour 1: overall views 149. Pops up at view 100 but then doesn't pop up for 101.
- perhaps if it popped up again every time they reach another time interval, i.e. 100? so it'd bother them in hour 1 if they view 100, 200, 300, 400, etc. (if we did do this, would it be possible to add a variable into the plugin that I can insert into the plugin message to say "You have used X pageviews" so they're aware how high they're getting?) I am 100% okay with this not being added, though
hour 2: restarts counting and pops up at 100 views during hour 2

I don't know if that makes sense. Also, if that is too much coding, let me know, I have no idea what kind of intensity that would require. Could be simple or could be way more than you want/can do right now. :) I just don't want to annoy the bajeezus out of people, even though I also wish I could wring their necks and go STOP EATING MY COOKIES bahahaha

Out of curiosity, whether it be a feature for this plugin or another I ask for later, would "locking" the page after a certain amount of pageviews in a time interval, i.e. hour, be possible? Obviously I know they can circumvent it - go in incognito, use a different computer or browser, etc. But it'd certainly be discouraging and a lot of people wouldn't realize how to get around it. What I mean is, if they are going crazy and eat up, like, 1,000 pageviews in 1 hour, it would make it so they get the popup except it doesn't allow them to get rid of the popup, making it so they can't click anything else on the page? With a message telling them they've hit X amount of pageviews in X amount of time and they need to wait X amount of time before looking more?
.... although... perhaps not the best idea.. That might just p*ss them off and make them more likely to start rapidly refreshing. Dang. >.> and I sadly have no way to know who is using up a lot of pageviews, so monitoring people's pageviews and banning spammers like that won't be an option. Guessing a plugin can't capture IP addresses to tell me who is using a crapton of pageviews?? And/or see which members those IP addresses belong to, if they are members and not guests?

Unless there is a bug, then it renews the start time. So it should not ask again at view 101, as it resets the timestamp and views.

So to test, set it to 1 min debug, and views to 5, and you should see in the console what happens.

On view 5, it will prompt the user with the message. Then it will reset the views back to 0. Refresh and you will see it increment the view counter. Refresh until you hit 5 again, and if the time condition is valid, then the prompt will display again.

As for additional features. I will maybe look next time I get some free time. Am working on a Halloween plugin (spin on Trick-or-Treat) right now (still very much a WIP).

Thank you for offering to potentially look into it sometime :) The halloween plugin looks so cool! I like that it appears to have useful treats, not just like... pictures of candy that you collect for absolutely no reason, but actually cool things that change the forum for you in some way. A very neat concept!
