What's happening on your Forum?

Tell us what you're excited about on your forum right now! Is it a new theme, a thread that's really taken off, or something you've been working hard at that's finally seeing the light of day?

For me, we've come to the big reveal of a huge story arc that has been underlying other plots throughout the past year. 

How about you?

We're running a relatively successful show this round and I'm really happy about it! Usually, when the other staff and I try to set up a show (horse RP, so horse show), it gets a couple of responses but nothing serious. This time, it seems to have hit the perfect time for lots of member participation, which I'm very happy about!

That’s fantastic! Sometimes it’s hard to figure out the rhythm of the board. It’s been so long ago since I was in school that I always forget to figure in final exams and end up putting up a new plot around that time.

I have been slowly launching this years site event. I do one each year and since my forum plot is linear, its built up from last years events. I keep a recap of whats been happening too in the plot thread so new members can jump into it and know whats happened but my current members can build on there own plots from it too. 

I try and remind them that things that happen are influenced by what they all RP too and what is posted has 'real life' consequences. It seems to get them all involved more. So previous years whole RP category I have deleted due to a site event, then I locked a board for couple weeks saying the area was being repaired, as members posted there two characters having a huge fight at the location and destroying part of the building. Then made new boards from another event based on what in-rp a number of characters said to my npc/event one.

Like Stern I had issues when first started with events that it clashes with people on holiday or exams at school, so making one event that is ongoing but changes as people RP seems to work better then say 'a halloween dance' kind of one thread event I use to do.

It's a great way to allow new member to hit the ground running. I have an accompanying website to my forum where I have all sorts of details, as well as the Timeline, explaining what's been happening.

Makes sense. We tend to have about 4-6 major plots happen over the course of a year, depending on group activity. Once in a while, I try to have a plot land on a time in which one of the characters has a birthday, so they can enjoy that aspect as well as what's happening. Right now, on her birthday, a character of one of our members has had to put a bunch of other characters in the Brig by order of the Captain, without knowing why, so it's not a great birthday for her, hahahhahah.

lol thats cool idea, fun to use dates like that in RPs. When the UK legalised gay marriage, me and another member had our characters marry, we been RPing them as together in real time over two and a bit years, and it seemed a fun way to celebrate

I did a quiet launch of next part the event about a week ago, next morning, shout box flooded with questions to me even got PM asking what it all means and what is going on so seems promising it will go well, idea is simple, shows you don't need complicated plans to make fun event

We recently launched a new theme! It still has a lot of kinks, but it looks a whole lot better than the previous one xD
