This forum is for posting short stories and poetry and getting and providing feedback. It also has a section to post writing prompts and have general discussions. Any suggestions on how to improve it will be greatly appreciated.Writersdreams

Pros: Giving writing prompts and term definitions is a nice touch to a writing forum!
Cons: I'm just underwhelmed by the look of the site. As a purely personal preference, I would enjoy seeing warmer colors. The boards don't feel very organized.
I would combine prompts and glossary into one board as separate threads instead of whole boards for one thread. Also, I feel like all of the OOC topics could be under one category instead of spread out around the forum. The boards almost feel like filler to make the site look bigger, but most of the boards are informational anyway and not interactive.
My two cents. I like the idea though!

Thanks for the suggestions. If you would come over and lend me a hand I would greatly appreciate it. What is OCC?

Hi Writersdreams,
You do have some very nice subjects and material posted, however I would suggest separating your poems from your informational material. You have your prompts on a separate board and I would do the same with your informational posts. Try working on your organization by organizing with a little more detail and clarity.
I really like the name of your forum!
Also, when it come to a board for poetry you might want to consider that there are several different types of poetry and each could be represented in a separate category such as romantic, dark, humorous, children's, etc.
Consider creating your own special banner to make your forum's appearance more unique. Also, a statement of purpose and intent at the top of your forum would be great ... what exactly to you wish to achieve/share/learn for yourself and your members by creating your site. Why should they join Writersdreams? What makes Writersdreams special?
Include something general ... such as a general discussions board or an introduction board for your members and make it visible to guests. Include a board that is just there to be fun.
Also, I would include the statistics. Right now you have it hidden. Personally, I do not hide anything from guests except for my staff board room. Guests, your potential members, want to know exactly what's going on a forum. If I am not given a full view of a forum I probably will be less likely to join.
Hope that helps.
Jeanne

I certainly can empathize. It is difficult to attract members and it takes quite sometime. I went through the very same thing when I first started my site and it was frustrating. Unfortunately, after gathering a membership "life happened" and I couldn't keep up. I've just reopened, so pretty much I am back at square one, too.
Hang in there ... ! Literary sites are difficult and their appeal is limited, but pursue!
