I am not the forum owner but have global administration privileges. Unfortunately he's not around anymore. Can I upgrade storage memory for attachments. I see no place to be able to do so. I have no File storage setting in Forum Settings.
This has become an issue because the "Simple Image Uploader" extension uses Imgbb which uses to.com, which I believe is still blacklisted and gets blocked in Malware programs such as Malwarebytes. It is also very difficult for many of our members to use third party hosting.
Looking for an answer to keep our forum alive.

Hi, You should see File Storage under Admin>Settings. If this isn't the case then you wouldn't have permissions to access this area of the forum. The best thing I can suggest is attempting to reach out to the forum admin and seeing if they would be willing to transfer control of the forum to you. You can find instructions on exactly what would need to be done for an official ownership transfer here: support.proboards.com/thread/561014/transfer-ownership-forum-another-member

I cannot reach the original owner. so I guess we are stuck.
Can you provide any updates on the "Simple image uploader" extension issue.

Will try again to reach plugin author again. Last request went unanswered. Also even if I could reach the original owner he does not have the original e-mail address as is listed in the transfer of ownership info link you provided. I even requested for someone to do a new image up-loader extension in the past. Correct me if I am wrong but your site cannot use other third party extensions such as the one on postimages.org?
Edit: terms state
"If a forum admin passes away, or if the main admin has clearly abandoned a forum, ProBoards may determine a successor for the account. ProBoards will make a determination based on what it views as the best course of action for the forum's members. It should be noted that ProBoards’ goal is the continued success of the forum and retaining the continuity of its membership."
Original admin has abandoned the forum...what is the next procedure?

Hi,
Unfortunately requests aren't always filled, especially since there is already a plugin that seems to work for most people. Generally third party extensions don't work on PB (or aren't allowed) but there are some things that you might consider third party extensions (like C-Box) that work just fine on ProBoards.
Those are guidelines, not terms. "Clearly abandoned" is a nebulous thing, generally we don't even begin to consider something like that until its been a year+ since the admin logged in, which your forum is still months from.

I see that he logged in last December in his main account. So After December can I request a transfer?

Also it has been years since he last logged in before that if you check his history.

havetofishCan only say simple image loader works for me,and have never used attachments for posting pictures. Your best option is to spell out how to use third party hosting to your members if you don't want to use that particular plug-in.

I have spelled out how to use third party hosting, but many just can't do it. Maybe I am being to paranoid about ibb.com, since they have been blacklisted on some malware sites.

havetofish, sounds like it might be a particular image that's an issue? Here's the results from another image link that resides on your forum and it comes up clean: link

havetofish , sounds like it might be a particular image that's an issue? Here's the results from another image link that resides on your forum and it comes up clean: link I know that I have scanned images and they come up clean. The issue is that if Ibb,co does not scan uploaded images for malware then its possible for someone to post an image containing malware. Here is a thread on the issue I brought up with Malwarebytes last year. forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/209070-blocked-website/

I've just installed Simple Image Uploader and my members love it. I don't understand what it is about you members not being able to understand it. If there are Malware concerns, surely a member can upload an affected image directly? Or do ProBoards scan attachments? Back to Simple Uploader. For those that don't know, once installed a button appears on the post creation box. Click that and you are taken to imgbb. There you select an image in exactly the same way as you would on the forum. Once you click upload, you are taken back to the forum post creation box where the code is automatically inserted for you. It's all done for you. Is it that member don't understand the process, or they don't like to use imgbb?

Its just that ibb.com which hosts the images for imgbb has come up numerous times in the past for allowing infected images on their servers. Members have problems understanding other 3rd party hosting sites ( without an extension) or won't bother using them.
Good question though.. Does Proboards scan attachments?

Its just that ibb.com which hosts the images for imgbb has come up numerous times in the past for allowing infected images on their servers. havetofish thank you for this thread. My forum also struggles with image posting issues and the easy image mod seemed like our salvation until I held off for security reasons. The fact that the imgbb.com was (is?) listed as "for sale" in Whois was my primary concern and my question was not answered in the mod thread. So that being said, they way I understand the malware issue you have uncovered is, with the lack of a scan on the ibb.co side, any member of my board could use the mod to upload a malware laden file which would then display on MY forum and possibly infect my members who view the photo in the post? The fact that the host has other malware file(s) on it already wouldn't really matter at that point right - meaning my members are not potentially affected unless the file was uploaded on our forum and accessed on our forum? Does this sound accurate?
