Can someone make a plug-in to allow for longer user names than what is currently allowed?
How about 50 or 60 characters?

This could be done relatively easily, but it would require a super user key.

I'll leave that up to the OP but I'm personally totally fine with that :)

I'm fine with a super user key. Whatever can get this feature to work.
Someone had a great user name on another board, and it's disappointing the user can't have the same user name on Pro Boards due to the current length restrictions.

Currently I'm using 4/40 Plugins, 2 of 10 Keys, and 0 of 2 Super Keys.

Remember that Todge is a volunteer. They aren't an employee, they aren't paid or under obligation to do any coding for us. The only actual employees of ProBoards are the users with red names, who handle support issues on this forum, not custom coding (unless they decide to do some small things in their personal time). Coding requests such as yours are all handled solely by unpaid volunteers. Therefore, it can take a long time for someone to fill your request, sometimes they won't at all. Custom plugins aren't a guarantee nor a feature that ProBoards promises in their service -- just a nice favor that some amazing coders decide to bless us with sometimes, for literally no compensation or reward besides being kind. Trust me, I've been waiting on a request of my own for 9 months now xD The most you can do is be very patient and appreciative, since appreciation is all they receive for coding plugins for us. It's only been 4 days since Todge responded, who is a grown adult with their own responsibilities to handle, so it hasn't been long at all yet. I know you aren't being pushy, but I also don't think you necessarily understand the dynamic of plugin requests, so I wanted to let you know so that you don't assume this will be guaranteed or speedy. It's better to be clear than leave you confused on why this isn't already finished. You can "bump" your request once every 24 hours to try and keep attention on your thread and cross your fingers that Todge or another person eventually finds some time to perhaps help you out! =D

Thank you! I installed it and tried it out.
It works great! Thanks for the prompt delivery.
BTW, just for my understanding, what's the difference between a User Name and a Display Name? Why are there 2 fields for seemingly similar information?

BTW, just for my understanding, what's the difference between a User Name and a Display Name? Why are there 2 fields for seemingly similar information? The username is what you create by registering an account on a forum, (This cannot be changed) and the display name is what everyone on the forum can see, (Can be changed).

Todgeso uhh.. I had some odd things happen with this. xD First, I had a member with the display name "Brynora." As a joke, I changed her name to "Brynora Hand." (long story) I went back and changed her name to normal and it showed the normal name "Brynora" everywhere--in her edit profile, on the homepage... except her main profile still, oddly, showed the old version. So then I erased her display name text field entirely in her edit profile and re-entered it, except it...wrote itself in backward. Like this: No idea how that happened. So I disabled this plugin and redid it and everything functioned normally. I don't know exactly what to make of this bug xD
