I mod a roleplay forum, and one of the biggest difficulties is making sure threads keep moving. Users often forget what threads they owe replies to, and it's hard for mods to monitor. Can a plugin be made to help with this common roleplay-forum problem?
Desired behavior: Users can tag each other within replies. The most recent tag within a thread adds a publicly-viewable tag to the thread listing (along side title, number of replies, ect). (In this example, the user misslol's last reply tagged user qq)(With ctrl+f feature, this would even serve as a rough list that all users can check!)Any thoughts on this, including how feasible it is, would be very appreciated! Edit: simplifying request.
Tag Who's Turn it Is:
Users could mark or tag the next user who's turn it is to reply, either in their replies, or whatever other method would work. Tagging = notify the tagged user of where & when they were tagged.
The thread would also carry a visible tag of who is next, and how long ago they were tagged. Replying and tagging a new user would update the tag.
To Do List:
Users could find a list of their tagged threads (including where & when they were tagged) for easy reminders. The list items clear when they reply, or when the thread closes. Maybe these tagged threads could show up stickied on participated threads, or on user profile, or added to frontpage sidebar code?? Whatever makes it easily visible!

Tagging a user is actually easy to do now qq - just by adding the @ symbol and the person's username they wish to tag, like I did with you. Also the tagged user will get a notification in the notifications area of their profile, showing when the tag was done and in what thread. As to the rest, I am not totally sure can be done, but someone with more knowledge on plugins may know more.

Thank you for the advice! The main goal of my request is to create an easily viewed public tag of who's next that is visible on board pages. It would be rad if it rolled the @ notification feature into it, but would be enormously helpful even without: (With ctrl+f feature, this would even serve as a rough list that all users can check!)We have tried the @ feature on our forum, but have found that for tracking purposes, there's some big shortcomings: - Easy to forget once notifications are checked & gone, especially once time has passed.
- Notification page is too buried and specialized for users to regularly visit naturally, especially compared to a high traffic board page.
- Not helpful to mods for easily spotting if a user is ghosting on many threads and is still joining new ones.
I'm going to continue asking for help/advice developing this!

Thanks Wiki! I actually looked at that plugin, but couldn't figure out how to use it. I read the troubleshooting, and left a comment in the thread, but am still not understanding what it does or how to get the behavior I need. Any help would be appreciated. I'm looking for a thread tracking system and this might work, but I'm not entirely sure what this does/ how it behaves. Is there any example forums using this that I can look at to get a clearer idea? Reading it again, It looks like it only changes the css per user if they have participated in a thread? I'm looking for universally view-able tags that are able to be set by users.... If that's not how the Thread Tracking System plugin works, or it has the capabilities I need, please let me know.
