How would I go about something like this?

Which layout template are you modifying? The variable you need to use is dependent upon this.

Just the board list, I'm trying to specify different layouts depending on the board ID. <3

$[board.id] should suffice in that case, assuming you're making the changes inside the {foreach $[board]} loop.
